I think Phaneuf loves being the captain of an original 6 team and everyone in the league hates him, he wont leave. I think Kessel and Bozak love being BFF's, living together. Clarkson took less money to move back "home".... - LeafsBlueline
Phaneuf will leave when he is told he is not wanted and they rip him of his captaincy. Kessel will gladly leave. |

Mentally, Kessel is already gone. He has been for awile. Probably shining his tackle box up right now. |

For the life of me I can't imagine why any player in the league would want to play in this city. |

Well it's not that surprising. The Leafs were playing a lot of home games against mediocre teams and then went on a long road trip against the West. Not the first time this has happened. - JohnFergusonJr
Those mediocre teams included the same tough western teams they got beat by. Looking at the season as a whole the surprising part is that they strung together the 10-1-1 stretch. |

And Stamkos' parents need to be added to the scouting staff. |

You are looking at this with very dark glasses.
Yes to new GM
Yes to new coach
Yes to new captain
Yes to moving Bozak
Yes to moving Lupul
Maybe to JVR, Kadri and Kessel depending the return. - Champ
if you don't move Kessel (of course for a reasonable return) you don't address the problem.
Full Stop.
No Conditions
No what ifs.
He's the guys who's supposed score. He's got one goal in what 15 games? That's just the statistical portion.
What are the commentators talking about after the game... Kessel's lazy changes.
Simply put, he drags the effort level of everyone around him down. When he's flying around and no one is physically impeding him he's happy... the moment that slow him down he turns to a ball of mush (vaguely appearing like a cheeseburger) and disappears.
Sets completely the wrong example for all the other players.
It doesn't matter if you move out every other player who you feel has too much salary or term or who is in a position you think is over their head.
Kessel stays.. team doesn't change. |

A team with strong leadership is the only place for Kessel as he will never change but he can score. |

Leafs were playing on home ice most of the time and were getting lucky most of the nights where they were getting outshot 40-20. |

Most of our core players where in excess of 20 minutes. The 4th line hardly played. Last year, they where all over Carlyle for not playing his 4th line and suiting up Goons. I say, bring them back! Unleash the hounds and start kicking some ass and taking names. I'd bring up a defenseman like McWilliams, that'll lay on the body and just go all in on the Goon Tank. At least it won't be this garbage that they try to pass off as hockey anymore. |

Anaheim, St. Louis, Nashville or Arizona (if they can't afford to sit around and rebuild) would all be good places for him to land. |

Score off the rush, cheat for breakaways and stretch passes, hope goalies stand on their heads. That's the only way this team can play and win.
Bernier shat the bed, cheaters forgot how to score, and we're a lottery team. |

I wouldn't be quick to blame Bernier. He would have literally needed two straight shutouts to win these past two games because the Leafs just can't score more than a goal anymore. |

He's been a bit better, but his save percentage in January was .870 or something; not good enough. |

He lets in weak goals. Lots of them. More than other nhl caliber goalies.
Had 2 tonight.
But he's somehow proven. - burn
If goalie A lets in 85 shots out of a thousand that are gorgeous shots, but stops everything else, and goalie B lets in 85 shots out of a thousand that are bloopers, but stops everything else, they're both .915 goalies, and they both will give you the same statistical ability to win.
