Ahhhh, I wouldn't say he's declining, exactly.

http://stats.hockeyanalys...playercharts.php?pid=1289

I realize analytics aren't exactly black magic or anything, but if you look at his production, ignoring the lockout year half-season as an outlier, his points/60 has been increasing every year (although really, it's pretty much at the same level). Even his iCorsi/Corsi For%/iFenwick/Fenwick For % has been better than before. Although you could attribute that to the team starting to pull away from Carlyle's anti-possession systems. His Offensive-Zone-Start% is even a little lower than it was before, too, so he's being forced to take on a slightly more defensive role and putting up approximately the same points per 60mins of ice.

It would be nice to try and give him one last bridge deal for a year if he can prove himself and earn some big money. Chances are though, he'll get $5M for 4-5 years. Given how the cap has been moving, that's actually the going rate for upper-level 2C's, so I'd take it. He's the closest thing to a 1C that we've had since Sundin.

...God, I miss Sundin

Kadri gets top PP time for a full year and is offence would be upper 3rd for a second line C, 4.5 per if he wants long term, otherwise he can duke it out in arbitration, if he doesn't perform super great but serviceable at least then he would be tradable much like Bozak is now...

Saving grace from WHAT? The guy plays most of his minutes with the likes of Winnik and Santorelli. You don't see how naturally his points won't go through the roof with those wingers? Also he has become more defensively responsible. (How much is debatable)

I don't see how jettisoning the only talented (not on a break away) center the Leafs have helps now OR in the future?

Patience amigo.

Santo and Winnik are the shining spots on that line

you hope for the best. Its not easy is what im saying. Usually they plan for 5 yrs and its rarely done by then.

I don't believe anyone plans 5 year or 6 year or 7 year rebuilds. GMs know their jobs don't last that long if they do.

I truly believe the only time this has happened is with edmonton today, I think 2 years ago they just said f it, we are taking as long as it takes with these kids, this of course is only possible because Katz will never fire them and they know this...

That's why you just change your title every few years so when things go to poop you can say "only been on the job 18 months, don't put that poop on me!" like my boy MacT.

to be fair the Kadri boners ALWAYS point to the shortened season.

at least in here.

- Garnie

The same shot season lars eller was almost a ppg player? The same short season the leafs managed to make the playoffs lol?

Kadri has nothing other than the short season to use for any argument

You think throwing a team with a -81 goal differential and looking to get less than 65pts this season on the back of a 18? year old is going to shoot them up the standings?

Again look what ive said:

Hes a fine 2nd line centre

He needs to earn a contract over $5 million over the last 35 games

His points have been declining for the 3rd year straight (fact)

Hes a 1 dimensional player (no pk, faceoff specialist etc, not a power forward). Hes purely offense. Not uncommon In the NHL

i hope he earns the contract. If he doesnt, id play hardball or explore a deal.

Does it seem like i bashed him anywhere? Kadri lovers pounce all over it.

psst....I think Clark is losing his marbles a little.....30 points in 46 games isn't remotely close to 44 in 48.

As an aside....Eller's career high is 30, Kadri got 50 in a bad season Clark, please just stop.

Unfortunately, I don't think we have one for this year . Unless you're suggesting we offer next year's 2nd (or if we get one by trading Santo or one of our other guys).

I don't know if I'd take that deal though...Richards' term scares me.
