The funny thing is that Buffalo will probably get McDavid and catapult that team into the stratosphere while the Leafs languish even further in the shadows. It will likely be a very long time before the Leafs play consistent meaningful hockey - you can take that to the bank.

Hence my advocating blowing it to bits and rebuilding properly?

Why bother even posting something like that? Have to be pretty bored and immature to.

Falling on deaf ears. Blowing it up, as so many advocate, doesn't always work out either. It may only thrust the team into even more years of insignificance. So your great grand children will be wondering if the Maple Leafs will ever win a Stanly Cup in their life time*

Well at least blowing it up gives you a chance. And if that fails, chances are, you have great trade assets and salary room

edmonton and buffalo will look good after this draft. Where will we be? it doesn't always work, but this sure as hell doesn't.

Not every draft has a stud franchise player. Mackinnon will be one i believe, before that, tavares. it takes a long time, and it sucks. But so has the last 11 years.

You think throwing a team with a -81 goal differential and looking to get less than 65pts this season on the back of a 18? year old is going to shoot them up the standings?

If Bozak is on the block, Kessel is def looking at his NTC

not right away, but they'll be a good franchise for years if they do it right and build around him.

All depends on how you draft, and if you're able to be successful in free agency.

This is true. They've finally seemed to buy into playing him with Kessel for more than one shift at a time, but those two can't seem to develop chemistry yet.

dude is 25 years old...is the last 35 games of this year in a 1st line and PP role not enough? Maybe im being harsh on him. He's not my favorite so i'll admit that. But that's where i stand. Again i posted the last 3 years of regression; come on naz, earn it.
- clark_griswold

He's 24. not even 24 1/2 yet. It's like you've already skipped ahead to the 2015/16 season lol.

The problem with the Leafs could be the draught during the draft?

Point is kadri is handled with kid gloves by most posters on here it seems. Im beung fair - he has a great shot to earn it now. And if the team is deflated, an even bigger test of character for him. After this season theres no more potential, he is what he is. I dont think saying "earn it" to a 25 year old is impatient. Hes been getting top 6 minutes for 3 years now.

He'll be 25 at the start of next year. And does that make a huge difference? His ppg has been declining steadilly for 3 years. For a 1 dimensional player thats troubling.
