I see lots of improvement in him.
I think what is insane is trying to act like you know he can't become something more. You don't know. - burn
I like the fact that he seems to be the only guy buying in to actually trying to play a 200 foot game. Discounting the guys like Winnik and Santo who learnt that elsewhere. I'd like the Leafs to be really really patient with Kadri |

can't unfortuately...he'll be 25 to start next season (again he ain't a puppy) and we have to make a choice on him before then. $5mil? no thanks. If he finishes strong and earns it; OK. Not based on his play last few years. This is a good test for him. No excuses now that he's Point on the PP and playing with fat phil. |

You can't discount that over the last few weeks, he has been there best and most consistent forward. No reason to believe he won't continue to grow. |

This is true. They've finally seemed to buy into playing him with Kessel for more than one shift at a time, but those two can't seem to develop chemistry yet. |

i'm not picking on him....and not discounting what you are saying. But take a look at the last few weeks for the leafs.
IMO we are way too lenient on players. He's been a top 6 guy and the team is terrible. His numbers have regressed. Now im willing to give him a chance; but i don't pay/not pay guys on if i like them as a player. He's not young anymore (youngish but come on show some consistency as again he's so one dimensional). If he earns it down the stretch, i have no problem signing him.
Quetsion, kadri does horrible for the rest of the year, finishes with 18 goals and 45 pts. What does he get (considering he wants 5 years) and you are the GM. Make him an offer or do you explore the trade route? |

I make him a 1 year offer and promise him top line/top PP minutes with Kessel to show me he's worth being paid and locked up. If he balks, I ask the league for trade offers and/or wait for an offer sheet.

I like this answer. I would do it a different way (promise him for the las 35 games or so this year and move kessel at the draft) but we have the same idea.
His points per game last 3 years:
12/13: .92
13/14: .64
14/15: .57
now im far from using only stats, but in his case i will since again, offense is pretty much all he brings. |

That's why you move Phil for some good pieces and settle with Kadri as a 2nd line centre. |

Considering he only has 27 points right now, 45 points will be a good finish to the season for him |
