cap is pro-rated

if the sabres eat half of Meszaros contract, it's a wash

- homiedclown

It still doesn't make sense for them moving forward from this year. The whole point of trying to unload Richards to free up that money. Coho's cap hit isn't that much less than Richards and is only for 1 year less.

You're prob right, maybe I'm just confused.

How does he play in Juniors one year and then is restricted from it the next though? Did he sign with the KHL between seasons? And if so, was it done strategically to give him leverage over the Sabres?

- RonPielep

That i'm not sure of .
Edit: KHL allowed the year before but wouldn't sign off this season.

4.25 in the ahl is better then 5.75 mil

saves the kings 6 mil over the next 4 years, almost 12 mil total

- homiedclown

Does that even make sense for us though?
We can prob get Richards for a 7th if we do want him, we could've just had him for nothing.
Plus, why give away coho for nothing?

He needs to be on a line with Ennis and a rugged winger that is not afraid to get dirty IMO
- homiedclown

well alright. but hopefully that means that whichever team picks up hodgson agrees to give us something nice for ennis and has a rugged winger to play with the two of them.

Assuming they keep Moulson-Girgensons-Ennis together next year...
That likely means Hodgson plays on the wing of either McDavid/Eichel, or Reinhart...
Hard to imagine Hodgson's stats not improving

The only way I see saving him is if the sabres get an elite winger to go with our first pick and reinhart (unless coho rededicates himself)

gringo and armia goes on a line with coho and gets his head out of his ass and the kids thrive

but that leaves no room for gionta

Gionta's nothing more than a 3rd liner anyways, and if they have a skilled enough 4th (Flynn+Delaurierieier), Gionta would be fine there too

Thing is , he is the best we have right now and his contract isn't that bad. 3yrs from now we could be looking for the exact type of player. We have him now. If he does a 180 and turns into the #1 We will be kicking ourselves in the ass for not being patient.
- cabin

You see, I think Weber is the "best we have right now".

Do I need to put a winky emoticon?

But seriously, I totally get what you are saying Cab.
I just feel we have been patient enough to be fair.
The only way I give Myers a pass in any way shape or form is the recent carousel of coaches and what is or was being asked of him by each one and their specific system.

I have a feeling Gionta is one more concussion away from being a permanent fixture on LTIR.

Hahaha...
Im assuming Coho has very little trade value right now.
I think his value is more likely to go up next season. And even if he has another bad year, can his trade value get much worse?
Worth the risk IMO

Agreed

I don't watch him closely to call out any effort, but I don't think there's any chance his skill is gone. On a crap team last year he was still good offensively (and I could care less if his defensive play is bad - not every player can be a great 2-way guy).

I think Hodgson could get back to 20goals playing with say Reinhart & Foligno

As long as his offense comes back, there will be teams that believe they can coach him up defensively
