Would love to see TM dump Enroth and Neuvirth for a couple of 2nd. Resign Hackett as our back up, and bring in Niemi on a two year deal until we really see what we have coming up through the system as far as goaltending is concerned.
I know we have too many picks already, so if TM could than take those picks and use them to push our 2 late firsts up a little maybe into the late teens that would be damn fine work.

Rebuilding like all other teams do, the right way...through the draft and trading your aging UFA who have no intention of resigning with you for assets like draft picks and prospects instead of losing them for nothing like all other teams do. They get no flack though because Conner McDavid's don't come in the draft every year.

Should the Sabres trade for old band-aids and stay in the gutter for ever?

- GilPerreault11

Icing a team you know won't be competitive in relation to the rest of the league in the interest of gaining a good pick is what? Rebuilding or tanking? Is there actually a difference?

I don't think so, call a spade a spade

Edit: Not that I'm saying theres anything wrong with it

They made vet signings and trades to ice a more competitive team. They just stunk so bad last year. It's not easy to fix a last place team with an extreme talent deficit in one off-season.

I agree with you, but last year the Sabres finished in 30th place. They made moves in the offseason that they thought would ice a more competitive team.

If they really wanted to finish last again this year, ideally, they should have done nothing.

All our UFAs weren't interested in signing and we overpaid to get who we got to come here - give it a (frank)ing rest - we suck - no different than Chicago and Pittsburgh did before they were able to draft #1 a few times - go to the Oilers blog if you want to female dog about tanking

And we would rather not suck so bad that we can't win in 13+ games...

Agree on no icing and we'll just play our guys in the defensive zone all game.

They'd never see THAT coming!

Don't get me wrong, i don't particularly care about what Buffalo is doing. In fact I'm rooting for the team to turn the corner and praying to god one of McEichel doesn't end up in EDM.

All in all i'm just arguing that i don't see much of a difference in "rebuilding" through the draft and tanking. The Sabres did not address their goalie position after Miller was traded while acquiring the likes of Gionta and Gorges is in my view more about developing the young guns as opposed to making a competitive push out of the basement.

Actually, this has been the point of a lot of posters here. If they're the same, someone just uses the term tanking because they have an axe to grind. We're following a well-worn road with this approach.

Not sure how we were suppose to address the goalie position though - as I said - no one wanted to sign on the team through a rebuild

I LOVE Tremblant, man!
Used to go once a year with friends when i lived in Buffalo.
Even if the conditions stunk, the party didn't!
Gorgeous place!

Perhaps, obviously not into playoff contention but maybe into the 25th range....not that it would benefit the team

Thus the tanking perception.

14 in a row down. 4 more and we made NHL history. Given who our next 4 opponents are I think we go it in the bag.

Goaltending is the only reason this team has 31 points and not 21.
