With PIM amounts in the 70+ for 3 of his first 4 years with Buffalo, I'd guess Lydman (likely would have hit 7) in the missing year if he hadn't missed time).

But yes, the "Vanek Hook" was frustrating - even to a Vanek fanboy like me.

Everyone is going to hate me, but I think we should target good ole Andrej Sekera if he makes it to FA. 5 or 6 x 5.5. Pair him with Myers on the top pairing.

Sekera has improved a lot the last few years and IMO was one of the most under-rated sabres the last few years here

Never should have moved him IMO. I know the pick got them Compher but he was without a doubt their best defenseman more than not. If his last name was North American you'd have heard many less complaints

I never loved or hated Sekera. He was good, but I always thought he could be better.

Agreed. I cant believe he went for a 2nd (Sabres had Compher rated in the 1st so to the Sabres it was a 1st) and McBain. He had the best value contract in the entire league. Just came off his best season as a Sabre being our top D. That trade was a solidified tank trade. Below market return (IMO) and weakening our team.

Sure you can, you dump him like they dumped Niemi and they keep winning. His backup has better numbers than him, and it doesn't really matter who's in that net as long as they're not horrible.
