Last few years (big) trades only take place about 3-4 weeks within the deadline. It's about 5 weeks until the deadline. Only 1 for 1 type deals (very unlikely involving top 6 forwards or top 4 Dmen)

People make me laugh when they say Stewart has to pick up his play...he plays on the worst offensive team in the league...he has 7 of the Sabres 90 goals which is tied for 4th on the team with Moulson and Stafford, his center is Cody Hodgson 2G 5A...the only complaint I have with Stewarts play is for a man of his size he doesn't hit enough. He can skate and pass and if he was on a skilled team like Detroit he would have at least 15 goals right now. JMO

PS I hope the Sabres resign him once he is a UFA like they did Moulson and let him ride shotgun for McEichel if we are fortunate to have the opportunity to draft either one.
