Tough loss last night and plenty to not be happy with. The Hawks again showed that they can get pushed around and once again can't convert on the PP when needed outside of one time. Towards the end of the 1st two PPs in a row and nada.

Then a makeup call early in the 2nd on Nordstrom and the Kings score almost immediately on the PP.

Kings were playing like crap coming into the game and the Hawks gave them what they needed.

Blowing three leads is not a recipe for winning hockey.

No points - onto Anaheim...

Usually I ignore posters from other threads that stir the pot, but read your post. You sound like the one that's drunk. Just sayin.

Crawford isn't that great of a goalie. I'd take 5 before him in a SCF game 7

Quick lundquivst Rinne Price Rask.

No, they didn't: gave up 3 leads, allowed two goals in the last six minutes of the game, couldn't win an own-zone face-off, couldn't clear when they had chances on the tying goal.

Too many third-period melt-downs - championship teams shut the opponents down in the last 10 minutes of close games - Hawks haven't been able to do that against Winnipeg, Dallas, now LA.

well we are on opposite sides of this one...they played well enough to get a 1 or 2...gave up next to nothing most of the 3rd...

some tough 3rds since the beginning of the year but for most of the year they have been very good in the 3rd

yet a very disturbing trend has developed vs these kings....

of the last 7 games (playoffs incl) the hawks have developed a nasty habit of blowing leads vs these guys. The kings seem to enjoy coming from behind to win.

WC finals

gme 2: 2-1 into the 3rd and then the great 3rd per blow out and lose 6-2
gme 3: similar to last nite with a 2-1 lead after 1 and lose 4-3
gme 5: blew a 3-1 1st period lead and needed OT to with ole man zus
gme 6: blew a 2-1 lead going into the 3rd but did win 4-3
gm3 7: and this charmer blew leads of 2-0, 3-2, 4-3 and lost it on the leddy bounce

did I have to really re-live this?

and in the last 2 games have blown 6 leads with leads in the 3rd to lose both...

spare me the the toughness and grit of the kings mantra...is that how they loss 7 of their previous 8.

On the play of the game, Brandon Saad did not look very tough. Tyler Toffoli (coming off MONO) did.

Just saying.

Refs screwed them the entire game though, it wasn't just about those final 6 minutes. And the Kings winning goal was as simple as it gets, win the faceoff and blast a shot from the point that bounces in....not exactly the defense falling apart. Just bad luck. And as much as i wanna say Saad should have cleared the puck on LA's 3rd goal, the bottom line is there was a goalie interference that wasn't called, and i thought we were doing a fantastic job of containing their Ozone pressure up until then.

Clear the puck, does the interference/screen matter? Answer: no.

JJ..... you think someone like Daniel Winnik would help toughen up the bottom 6?

If the Hawks best players aren't playing their best, as has been the case for the last month, Daniel Winnik or another bottom 6 forward won't make a difference.

2 have not made a final, less win anything.

1 Had a sniff and what 4 losses?

Rask 1 and 1. Lost to Crow.

Lets keep some perspective.

I'm with ya...

...blaming the ref is the simplest explanation...always has been and always will be.

It's also often the wrong explanation.

I agree with you on that play. There was also a play early where I think rundbland got beat along board which resulted in a open look from 5 ft for carter which "non elite" crawford stopped.

But the "rough and tough" kings made their share of weak plays also.

a bottom 3 of Johny Rosinbland as of now is a big problem.

I have no problem with him, and I know the Hawks have had a lot of interest in him in the past, FWIW.
