Go to any other board, i think you guys are great. I just admitted before if we werent in the playoffs i would root for you. All ive been saying this whole time is Capuano doesnt have the chops to match lines well in the playoffs. Keep chastising me for it thats fine. Like i said, bookmark this board and talk to me in the spring - rferrone
Let me help u again.....
this team has depth & talent, they are winning in spite of the coaching staff, so to us, the coaching staff really doesn't matter, the players do..... |

Weak to the tune of coaching the #1 team in the eastern conference. And its not as if he's coaching a team full of battle-tested vets. I am and many on this site are not fans of Cappy's, but credit where credit is due: he's got this team humming and the chemistry between the players and the coaching staff is there. Cappy has something to do with that. - Jethro09
I think the solidity throughout the lineup gives him more leeway, since up to this point hes been able to roll four without putting thought into it. Im just saying the playoffs require that extra thought that hasnt been tested yet. Not sure if hes capable. Also not sure if hes not capable. I understand defending your team but i wasnt bashing anyone just trying to have a hockey conversation and some get too defensive. Its fan bias were all guilty of it

Defense is ranked in the lower half of the league. Not saying Boychuk, Leddy and Hamonic aren't good, because they are, but even with Halak playing very well the overall team GAA is hovering amidst the lower ten in the league. - MidnightMarauder
Leddy and Boychuk are 1,2 in NHL on Fenwick rating. |

No, they don't"roll" four lines. They use them in the right spot. Their coaches understand line matchups MUCH better than Capuano. How can you compare 3 months of success to the deepest teams in the league who are perennial contenders - rferrone
We arent just correcting you on your rolling four lines comment. Dont deviate from the post. |

As unfair as it may be, however, you can have a great year, but if your not playing well in April it may not be worth a poop. Conversely, you can have a pedestrian year, and just get hot at the right time.
At the end of the day, the preliminaries are fun and all, and of course, you have to qualify, but who knows what things are going to look like come April.

That's where you are wrong. If you watched the isles every night like we do you would see he puts out his 4th line in certain situations all the time. He just doesn't roll them out because its their turn to go in That's why guys are responding to you because you really don't know what you're talking about when it comes to the Islanders evident by your early posts. |

No, but Halak can't play every night. Maybe playing against his old team will light a fire under Johnson's a**? I watched him with the Rangers and Boston. He's got the ability to be a solid reliable back-up. He just hasn't shown it yet this year. - Jethro09
I said it last week, but I think Johnson is going to start against BOS tomorrow night. DET is a bigger game on Saturday, because they're right up there at the top of the conference with us. Obviously every game is important, but I just have a feeling Johnson will be facing the Bruins. |

I was joking i like them. Most people on here get upset by them though.
I tried proving the decline of dan girardi with advanced stats, to no avail |

That's the problem people mistake Islander fans being happy as thinking they have everything locked up. Are we not suppose to be pumped up about our team? That's why I love when fans from other teams come to our board and say that. Not talking to you Peter |

Ur right, it all matters in PO time. Regardless of what will/might happen, I think most isle fans see the light at the tunnel more closely than years past bc of the talent & depth now. So this year would be year 1 of the experience with some sediment of knowing the prize can be a reality sooner than much later...... |

exactly, you look Stanley cup winners and best franchise they all possession teams. hawks, kings, boston etc.
It always made my blood boil when announcers would compliment Andy Macdonald for leading in block shots. Leading in block shots is a negative. it just means you spending too much time in your defensive zone.
its no coincidence that isles are where they are, if you don't believe advance stats matter, then you are just dumb. |
