I dont think Zucarrello has a ton of value at this point.
- Cptmjl

His value has taken a nosedive this season. Can't spin it any other way, he has been horrible this season, for the most part.

i disagree. Goals arent everything look at what hes done for nash. Hes definitely underperforming but his linemates arent. Other teams know what hes worth and i think either him or hags, packaged with mcilrath could bring back a good piece

I still wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire, But he is the second winningest coach in Isles History!!

Jack (Adams) Capuano. He's a serious contender for coach of the year. I can't believe I'm writing this, but it's truth.

This is the first ranger team I've seen that has pretty much zero toughness. They have no one who can change the game physically. The isles bottom six (best bottom 6 in the NHL) was dominating the Rangers. They just simply had no answer. In years past when getting dominated, the Rangers had guys to make a big hit, start a fight, something. This Ranger team is just soft. Period.

I think he has value, just not as much bc of his FA status and not being consistent on the score sheet is what's hurting him this year....

You wouldn't want him even if he was a centre

He is no answer for anything, if Ottawa retained half the salary then maybe... But even then, he is the definition of a replaceable part.

Deserving or not, they'd never give the isles that respect. The islanders DOMINATED the Rangers 3 games in a row and are first in the east, yet as of a week ago the Rangers were more favored to win the cup. I'll take the underdog role right into the playoffs.

Again I'd rather keep him than hagelin. His hockey iq is through the roof and yeah he's not scoring newrly as much as last season, but his presence on Nash's line is a BIG reason nash is having a career year. He makes the guys around him better, brassard is a ppg player (who wouldve thought?). Hagelin on the other hand, is only effective on a line with better players around him. I think hes young enough to fetch a nice return

No arguments with any of that, but he's likely going to be looking for a raise. I guess it's hard to justify trading a top line player when you're team is a pretty strong candidate to make the playoffs.

But I'm not sure they're going to be able to pay him what he's going to ask for come July 1st, and unless he takes a hometown discount I don't really think they should be paying him a lot more.

Either way, it's close. An argument can be made for either guy. Both are having terrific seasons.

productive 3rd line center. I saw mcilrath play a few weeks ago in norfolk, and he was a standout. Shut down dany heatley (sad to see how far, and how fast, he has fallen). Young right handed defenseman are hard to find. I think theres interest in zuccarello, im not saying were gonna get 1st round picks or anything but we could get what we need

Laviolette will get it because he's established. Jack Capuano is the isles coach. Nuff said.

Side note: Howie and Butch could be the worst dressed announcers of all time. Get a phucking real tie if you're gonna be on TV. It's embarrassing.

It comes down to the playoffs. His performance this regular season really means nothing. He can score at a .5 PPG pace the rest of the year but if he scores 20 points in 25 playoff games, he will get paid in free agency.

You never kniw with Sather he Jedi mind tricks other GM's into some stupid shat. With that said I dont think Zuc is a bad player dont get me wrong I just think he's in a bad rut which is hurting his value.

I haven't lost hope in McIlrath. Definitely not a top 10 pick but I think he can develop into a steady NHL defenseman with a mean streak.

would you rather take a chance and maybe overpay, let him go for free, or trade him in the next month?

You thought so? I disagree. The isles dominated them for 75% of that game.
