Little surprised as well. Johnson has to play at some point right?
- Vukota

Maybe they're eyeing the Panthers or the Flyers next week.

Sure, if you can get one with a later round pick. D-men are like gold in the NHL. Marginally decent ones don't come cheap, let along good ones.
- Jethro09

My thought is you dangle Donovan for something. You have enough in the pipeline in case. That may be the only move roster wise.

It's worth a shot, as he certainly doesn't look like he has a place here.

Teams that are out of it will look to dump salary. The isles should look to add that piece on the backend. Im not confident in strait, and viz is consistently injured

Capuano: Halak in goal. No lineup changes from Tuesday's win. #Isles

So much for my theory

- eichiefs9

Geez, would hate for Halak to be over-used and not break down.....

http://grantland.com/the-triangle/requiem-for-a-dump-saying-good-bye-to-the-nassau-coliseum-on-the-occasion-of-rangers-islanders/

This was a really good read, if you have a few minutes.

A Great Read, and by a Ranger fan too. Nassau politics will say goodbye to this proud franchise, oh and by the way to tax dollars on everything from sales of soda and tickets to parking revenue and hotel taxes at the soon to close Marriott. But hey that is no big deal in Nassau where they continue to struggle just to stay afloat and spent 14 million dollars last week to build turf fields in Eisenhower park!!!
I will attend less games simply as it is just too far away to go to without having the next day off, but Mr. Wang for all our female doging could have gone to Quebec where he would have made more $$$ then even the rich tv contract by Mr. (part of whats wrong with Nassau) Dolan gave him. So I will enjoy this season as I have since 72. I will remain an Isles fan as long as their skates find some portion of NY home, even when I don't. So keep up the fight boys YES YES YES!

Its hard to change a lineup that is playing this well, even though you worry about burning Halak out. Johnson needs some work though. Maybe they should send him to BPT for a "conditioning stint"?, get him some work down there before he plays in the NHL again?

I hope so, either play Johnson enough to know if he can find his game or make a move for a backup.

I think you're only eligible for a conditioning stint if you're coming off of an injury. Tonight would have been a good night to start Johnson, but I guess with the stretch of games we have coming up after DET on Saturday, maybe they see a few opportunities to get him between the pipes. A whole bunch of games that we should win.

Agreed, but without breaking the bank, Methot (might cost too much), Hainsey, Sekara, I'll pass on Zidlicky, I want a guy who is responsible in front and has some offensive skill but I think the d part of his game matters more with this group.

Like the article said, i'd love to see the Isles leave the NVMC ice for the last time carrying the Cup off of it. That would be the best feel-good sports story you could possibly ask for. You couldn't write it up better than that.

Panthers are no pushover anymore and they always seem to play well against us. The Flyers or Sabres are going to be my guess. Maybe the Bruins when we seem them again a week from Saturday? Who knows.

I would quite literally cry like a baby. Mostly from the fact that they won the Cup the last year in the Coliseum, partly from the fact that I went to the game and could no longer afford to put gas in my car or pay my bills.

If he continues to play terrible then I think maybe they'd have to look elsewhere. I can't possibly see them picking up another guy and adding salary though. Unless we are waiving Johnson. Right now, his "one-game-a-month" appearance isn't enough to bother me. Halak seems to be fine handling the current workload.
- eichiefs9

It doesnt bother me either PRESENTLY but I think itd be short sighted to go into the playoffs with a garbage back up thats why Johnson needs some starts.

If I were Snow I'd be making calls to EDM and OTT about Petry and Methot, respectively.

I doubt we're going to part with the assets needed to get those guys, but it is certainly worth inquiring about. The trade deadline is almost exactly a month away, so I'm sure the talks are beginning (if they haven't already).

I don't disagree with your logic, but if your starting goaltender who carried you all season goes down in the playoffs...there's a pretty damn good chance that you're screwed no matter what. Some guy we pick up as a backup isn't going to get this team through a playoff round.

Question.

The Islanders are, and have been, my 'g.f.' (girlfriend) team for some time, as my brother lives on the island, and that is his team. That said, I am travelling back east next month, and my Canucks are playing the Rock & the Colosseum on the same weekend.
My one experience at a game back east (rangers) a guy was wearing a pens jersey, and was heckled, spit on, threatened, etc. when they were playing the home team. Didn't seem like a good time. I like to talk hockey with the locals and enjoy myself, not talk trash and antagonize, etc.
Wearing opposing teams jersey a bad idea? What do you all think?

Just a thought here but if they maintain the pace Halak plays 60 of first 80 and at last 2 maybe you are set in position. Isn't that about what we hoped for in the first place?
