I totally wasn't talking about hockeybuzz, I was talking about advanced stats sites, like the DB style sites, war on ice, hockeyanalysis, behindthenet.ca, etc.
Last I knew when Topes was here, bloggers didn't get paid. - hardnosed
Ok, I misunderstood your previous post. My question still stands.
The last I knew, Metzer wasn't paid yet used it as a stepping stone. Same for a buddy that did the Bolts blog. Not sure how it works, hence the question. |

What's he doing up again ? I thought the pens didn't want goons on the ice. |

Adding a buffoon to the fourth line won't fix that. - Ben37
Yeah, if you've watched any of the games recently you'd have already deleted that post.
Edit: Nevermind that, I think I took your point the wrong way. You're right, the two-headed monster won't change on their own. Adding grit guys who play the game mostly right might do the job. Hopefully. |

Ill say one thing. This is not a reflection of tonight so far btw. But with the lack of quality calls from officials since november, the pens may be more mentally prepared for the kind of game the officials call in the playoffs. It has seemed to me the last number of years the team and leadership group gets quite rattled in the postseason when the rules change. This could be a silver lining kinda outlook. |

Thought his forechecking was some of the best on the team in the first half of the period |

Bringing in a guy like Lapierre won't fix Crosby and Malkin's issues. Especially when they start to get distracted. At this point of their careers it's an indictment when it happens. I understood it when they were 18-20. But at this point Crosby has been in the NHL for 10 years. He should know that the Flyers game plan is to get him of his game and he should have the mindset to get past their antics and focus on playing. You don't see Ovi, Stamkos, Kopitar or Toews getting their heads so twisted as often. |

Don't play the flyers for awhile though ? I mean I'm sure the pens are getting their diving in order for that game. Oh don't forget about the crying too. |

Two of those men have had almost zero postseason success. And Toews (considered by many to be the nhls best leader) sure has lost his head numerous times. Furthermore I would say both Toews and Sid seem to get a ton of extracurricular attention in the form of flat out dirty play. |

It appears GMJR is going the "fire with fire" route. I personally don't like it, but there's been a whole lot of cheap play against some of our guys and NHL continues to look the other way.....as usual. It's hard to put up an argument against it actually, when games like the Blackhawks game last week are so few and far between (two good teams focusing on playing the game and not hurting people).

Ovi and Stamkos haven't had great postseason success but that isn't on their shoulders alone. You just don't see them losing their heads as often. As for Toews I know it happens I've seen the clip of Seabrook consoling him in the penalty box, but again it doesn't seem to be happening to Toews nearly as often as Crosby seems to get rattled. And of course they all get extracurricular attention and dirty play, but it's how the respond to it that is different. |

Everything aside from your first sentence I agree with. I do believe they can figure it out with the right guys injected into the lineup. Accountability is the best word for hockey players, and adding guys that put everything into the game can only help Malkin and Crosby. If not, then I'm wrong and we're (frank)ed. |

You could argue that ovi has never really cared for much of his career. ..ill take a passionate leader over a me me floater any day. Stamkos is amazing but has never been in a position to even have to deal with half of what toews and crosby have dealt with. There is a reason why players like crosby and toews are winners at the end of the day. Ill take some lost tempers anyday over other star players like ovi that have appeared to play the sport just for themselves. I feel the issue is he nhls...not crosbys or toews...these players shouldnt have to "play through" the crap. The poop needs to be called all the effin time. |
