I wouldn't count on having sobotka for the playoffs. I think that bridge has been burned. He wanted top 6 minutes, that wasn't happening with this team.

Even if his season ended early enough to come back, do you think that he will to play bottom 6 minutes? I guess it is possible just to burn the year contract, but I doubt that both the Blues and Sobotka are both going to agree on anything this year.

He in all likelihood has played his last game in a Blues jersey. If/when he comes back, expect it to be after a trade.

I really like the idea of him potentially coming back for playoffs. He wins by getting to clear his 1 year obligation and potentially go on a deep run to help boost his value. Blues get instant upgrade on 3rd of 4th line and a awesome PK guy. With Brodeur gone that cap frees up plus what little cushion we already have.

Vladdy is one of the guys other teams hate to play against during playoffs so if one of the top lines struggles, team has more options at shuffling lines.

Nobody is talking about how much better Goc is on the PK than Lappy. I think that needs to be mentioned, b/c Lappy has been on the ice for a lot of pp goals against. Plus, he's faster than Lappy and is better in puck possession. That fourth line is shaping up well now. Of course, I would never compare Ott to Lappy, they aren't even the same currency, better yet coin.

Good point, Lappy has not been good on the PK this year. Be nice if Goc can improve the PK and take some of the load off of Steen/Backes/Oshie.

The stars would really have to align for Sobotka to come back. I don't think he is at the forefront of anyone's mind in the front office.

With a lot of talk of Sobotka possibly coming back for the playoffs to burn the 1 year, i just don't see that happening. I liked him but his days of wearing the note are over. I could see him being a stubborn wiener and sitting out a year waiting for a trade before he plays for the Blues again. I liked the line of Him Schwartz and Tarasenko. Now that is filled with Lehtera.

It would be great to see him in the Bluenote again but i think that ship has sailed(in this case all the way to Siberia)
