I get your sarcasm but I do think we need an upgrade in the physical dept. I've been saying it almost all season not just after last night's loss. (I'm a big Chris Stewart fan) esp for a playoff run you need guys that can hit and wear down the opposing team.

Lance Bouma from Calgary, don't think they will trade him buts that type of guy we need, just hits everything

Last night was just tough to watch. Give the Islanders credit. They attacked the Rangers with speed. The Rangers couldn't handle them. The Rangers also were a cluster(frank) defensively. The Islanders were making that cross ice pass and just killing the Rangers.

Roussel from Dallas would be awesome. Pipe dream though.

Have to give credit to the Isles; they were the better team last night and have been all season.

I refuse to overreact but I will say the defense has not been the same as it was last season and a large part of that is how mediocre to under par McDonagh has been for the majority of the season. Both he and Girardi were abysmal last night.

On another note, I am pretty much done with Zuccarello here. Makes careless plays almost every game and absolutely refuses to take the open shot. Recognition is key to getting results and he just doesn't know when to pull the trigger. A lot of people are looking for a Hagelin trade at the deadline. Scrap that idea, Zuccarello needs to get the hell off this team.

I wouldn't be against beefing up the line up with someone who could play. Don't know if Stewart would be worth it, or who else is out there, or how to fit said person in.

Love Roussel, no way they trade him though. He is a perfect third line player. He's quick, not afraid of physical play, can score a little and is an agitator.

I blame the forwards more than the defensemen though. They have got to figure out how to finish on this team.

Seems to be the Penguins new model for success and overreaction to the Rinaldo hit by trading Goc for Lapierre. They went from debatably the dirtiest team in the league to the clear winners in that category.
- Cptmjl

Yeah, have to be careful with overreactions. If we get someone who is tough they better be able to play pretty damn well, and it better be an upgrade over whatever is going the other way.

would we be ok with zucc and a 2nd for boedker?
- webleedblue

I'd help him pack but let's be honest Zuccarello's stock is way down this season. One goal in his last 17 games is not something other teams are clamoring for.

Outside of the first period, the defense wasn't the problem. The issue at hand is exactly that, they can't finish and have way too many pass first players.

They were down by three, with ten minutes to go in the third period, and here they were still throwing the puck around like they were playing keep away. The coaches need to instill a need to shoot first approach with a lot of these forwards.

This. Zucc & Brassard probably passed up a combined 5-10 really good shooting opportunities. I understand Zucc being a little gun shy with the way his season is going, but Brassard has probably one of the top 3 shots on this team but is always looking pass. Plus outside of MSL I think Brassard is the only forward who knows how to take a 1 timer.

Brassard had an absolutely awful game last night; the whole "top line" did. The Islanders didn't do anything last night that the Rangers can't do.

The Islanders were just hungrier to win last night and made the right plays. The Rangers backed up and didn't play their game; which is smart defensively and speedy transition offense.

Yup, hate to say it, but the Rangers look like they are intimidated by the Islanders, same way they were against Tampa. Good thing is they still have 2 games left to figure it out and maybe give them some confidence against the Isles.

Zuccarello's value is virtually worthless to a non playoff team by the trade deadline as a pending UFA

It is absolutely imperative they beat the Islanders, at least once, before the playoffs begin.

Zuccarello's stock has plummeted severely this season much to the dismay of his agent.

Having a dump of a season before you turn UFA is an agent's worst nightmare.

Since we lost 1 game and got out hit, I think the team needs to be way tougher.

Zucc & Glass for Kassian & Dorsett. Hagelin for Neil. Fast for Rinaldo. Stempniak for Cooke.

You guys are way too soft. I actually miss the tougher Ranger teams especially when we play each other

So, the Isles have one good half of a season and now their fans are experts on how to build a winning team. IT TOOK YOU 20 YEARS AND HOW MANY TOP 5 PICKS? GEEZ, they've become like Femguin fans. That's not a good thing. Can't wait until they get knocked out of the playoffs.

some of you ranger fans are pathetic. Stop crying about how Islander fans are acting. It's becoming an obsession for some of you

I do think the Rangers can use a guy or two that have a little bite in their game that can actually play a little. I think the Rangers thought that Glass would step right into Dorsett's spot and they would be richer by having a third round pick in the Dorsett trade, but that hasn't turned out. Couple that with Carcillo not getting re-signed and the team lost a couple of useful sh*t stirrers that can create some energy when the team is flat, and get under the other team's skin. I think the Rangers could really use a fourth liner that can do this.
