This argument is tired. I understand wining a cup is winning a cup, but back in the day there were less teams, so the odds of winning were much greater.

The game was different, players were different. If a team won two years in a row in this day and age, it speak volumes more than when there were less than 16 teams in the league.

That being said, 13 is a pretty good number.

I doubt 13 pre-1967 Stanley Cups are appeasing 3 million Leaf fans at the moment. "Sure we're mismanaged and terrible, but hey 13 cups before I was born, so....we'll call it even."

I could give a rat arse about the 4 cups the Isles won in the 80's because the last one was 2 years before I was born. The history is nice, but they sure didn't make a lifetime of embarrassing ineptitude feel any better for me.
