Don't expect it to happen, but I would think Ritchie would go from the "should have been" pick to the "told you so" bust rather quickly.

And yes, you would be creating holes, but that's the point. I've made no secret recently that I want this team to be bad for a while. And not bad for stretches, good for stretches like they have been for years now. Bad for at least three seasons in a row.

The value isn't that off but Coyotes are not making that trade. They need to continue their rebuild with Vermette and Yandle likely gone soon. Not to mention Doan walking into the sunset.

Trade Kessel and Phanuef. Leafs are never winning anything with these guys here. Their not the guys and the sooner that management gets that the better it'll be. Kessel is a tough call, it COULD work with him but you'd have to build around it to compete in 2 years

As a Flyers fan, I can tell you it's unnecessary. Dead last in 06-07, EDF the next year. The Edmonton model doesn't work well. It won't take that long with some of the players you have.

Like I said, the group of Bozak, JVR, Gardiner, Reilly (& maybe Lupul) is a start. Retool, not rebuild. Drop Phil and Dion and go from there. Stay open minded with other trades and FA's, and you could be right back the playoffs next year.

Leafs don't need a full rebuild. Nylander could be next year's Filip Foraberg. Anything could happen. Take a year to year approach.

See the last 11 years. all you are doing is providing false hope my friend. I've said it before - the edmonton model may not work. But this is 100% not working. The players you mentioned aren't a core. A core is a 1st and hopefully 2nd line centre, 2-3 solid D and a great goalie. You mentioned no 1 1st liner other than JVR and Rielly in the future.

Again the rebuild has never happened in Toronto...and look at philly, almost as inconsistent as the leafs. i think if any teams have been treading water, it's philly and Toronto. Both teams have made a lot of mistakes out of not being patient.

Take what you can for Dion, do your due diligence in FA and have a good draft. Team could be much better next year wi th out a full fire sale of the teams core.

I suggest either cheering the (frank) up, or taking some warfarin. Find a new hobby for the next few months, because it likely isn't getting better and making a knee-jerk trade just to say that you made a trade is the worst move right now (especially given who the captain of the cruise ship is)...

We're not getting better this year, so grab a beer and be patient.

Arizona is rebuilding. why would they move 2 of their best young players, when they are a terrible team for a 26 year old JVR? They know they are crap and are going to rebuild the right way. SOmething toronto could learn from
