The guy's completely washed up. Over the hill. We have a chance to rebuild this whole organization. Now we want a knackered soon to be 30 year old leading the charge. Yay

The media is dumb, always looking for a story. Mike Richards is better than Bozak, and would see his stats pick up as soon as he's centering JVR and Kessel. He has the potential to regain his form and become an actual #1 centerman, something we don't have. It's not everyday a player like Richards is available for free....and people are saying no, its nuts.

And yet LA is trying to give him away for nothing!

It's obvious you haven't watched this guy since his Flyer days. He's not that player anymore. He can barely skate. He's like Clarkson physically...over-matched. You'd hate him after the first game.

If only LA had quality forwards to try this with...it's not like they put him on waivers prior to trying to kickstart his productivity.

I've already shut it down for this season. Switching to the Lightning till draft day. Of course, i'll be watching the tradewire with interest from now till the deadline too.

Here we go, all the Leaf fans yelling no....hope you all enjoy him getting picked up by another team and watching him regain his form. Then we can all sit here and talk about how we could have got him for free, and of course I'll be here to remind everyone I said we should have picked him up....every. time.

It's funny how often NHL players used to regress real bad in the 80s once they hit 30 or so. Bobby Smith comes to mind.

Because they have Kopitar and Carter, because they have great depth. Because the coach doesn't like him or utilize him properly.

True enough. Richards has had very questionable work habits, he's not that big either. It's tough to last in this league playing that style against younger, bigger and fitter opponents. I just think his time has run out. He may get another kick at the can, but it won't be at this salary, IMO.
