I think Phaneuf's contract is movable whereas Richards is now proven to be unmovable.

Even if it was to retain 1 million in salary. It's a larger savings than Richards god awful contract.

exactly.

looking back we lost the grabo-kule-mac line for absolutely nothing

like we literally got nothing in return for any of those guys...

thats such brutal GM'ing right there, honestly.

- Lucas Neilson

That line had one good season...that was it.
Nonis got Mac for nothing. Grabo was another bad contract. Kulemin is not worth the money he's making now.....although I could have lived with it had we not signed clarkson.

Plus a pick or prospect?

You do know that Staal is actually worse than Dion, right...?

it blows my mind to this day

even buyout grabo, ok, whatever

u let kule and mac walk and burke said he could have got a first for each of them

which may have been BS but still...

absolutely horrendous work, imagine that? getting paid MILLIONS to make decisions as stupid as that.

baffling!!!!!!!!!!

Dion is a 2nd pairing dman on the Kings. At 7M, it's not better than 5.5M for a bottom six center.
- fidopro

Your paying 9 million for your second pairing D man.....

i don't doubt Phaneuf can be moved. but i think he would have gotten a higher return last season as a rental, without a long term commitment at $7 million.

I think that's partly on Burke. Apparently he could have had a million first rounders for those guys but felt they were going to be core pieces in a playoff run and resigned them. Poor asset management

Oh probably. A first and a top prospect most likely.

You have to clear out Phaneufs', Robidas, Gardiner's and one of Lupul's or Bozak's contracts.
Clarkson, could be moved if he keeps his numbers up.

- Fakepartofme

pretty much agree ... but if by some miracle 3 or 4 or those are moved... then hopefully whoever is in charge doesn't turn around and overpay Bernier, Franson and Kadri.

Hurricanes actively shopping Alexander Semin. If no trade partner is found, will be placed on waivers.

He's been ok this year.
I said he would get 33 points this year with 13 goals.

What is he on pace for?
