well with that logic say good bye too bernier than. - zazzle
It has to stop, paying for projected success. They need to earn their big money and Bernier has been less then stellar this year. Too many first shot goals that put us behind the 8 Ball. If that's Reimer, they'd want to run him out of town for a 7th rounder.

You don't like that deal? i'd take their first next year instead of the 2nd but not sure they would. Strome and a pick is a great package IMO. And im not undervaluing jvr...Strome was a top 5 pick who has put up solid points this year NOT playing with tavares. He's 4 years younger than jvr and a hometown boy. I think you may be underrating strome - clark_griswold
and the pressure to to perform in every home game.
it hasn't worked out to well for some local boys play for the leafs. |

He should get Bozak money. $4.2 to $4.5 for 5 years. Anything more, then move him. - PrinceLH
the same ppl knocking the oilers fail to realise that all 3 of RNH, eberle, hall have all had better career seasons than kadri the golden boy who people want to give big money. None are great defensively and all pretty much offensive.
Kadri has to have a damn strong finish to justify anything over 4.5 for me. |

fixed.
i know what you are saying, but again i think we have painful years ahead. we need to think about 4-5 years away and know that we need to take some chances since this sure ain't working. |

I would keep Bernier. Get him some defensive help and he will be fine. |

nope, just not severely devaluing JVR.
JVR is about to put up back to back 30G seasons NOT playing with Tavares...
They need to add another prospect or pick. |

But we've cut the shot totals down and the GAA is not coming down. We just aren't scoring, but giving up as many goals. |

False...
and all 3 have $6M cap hits. I haven't seen anybody say anything over $5.5M for Kadri, and that's the # they are complaining about.
And in Kadri's poopty season he's having, he's got the same points as all 3 of them right now...
Agree with your last point however. I'd like to see 3 yrs x $4-4.5M. gives him a deserved moderate raise, but doesn't tie either side to a number they don't like long term...
I'm not ready to give up on him yet. Kid has special skills when he's on. |

Maybe Jersey gets into the mix, considering he's from there. Maybe their first and Adam Henrique or Adam Larsson. Maybe we insist that they take Clarkson, as well. |

There is no positive aura in Toronto. The whole thing needs to change and you will see Bernier get better. |

Haven't thought about it. I don't trade JVR unless Kessel and Phaneuf are already traded...
but Strome and a 2nd isn't enough. It isn't too far off, but it should be a 1st for sure, or another solid prospect.

Didn't they draft Griffin Reinhardt 10th overall, 2 years ago? Maybe him and Strome.

Bernier sucks. He was the cheapest option when the leafs went shopping. There were other, better options at the time but no-nuts wouldn't pull the trigger.
Bernier is a good backup goalie forced to play in an incredibly difficult situation.
No wonder he's losing his hair. |

I guess this means "blow it up" is the plan.
How the Leafs cannot even make a pitch is crazy. HE IS A CENTRE FOR GOODNESS SAKES.... the one thing the Leafs have needed!
Look --- it does not take a capologyst to understand that Phaneuf on long term removes his salary and makes room for Richards... then in the summer, let Booth and others walk and you recover the 5.5.
I am not saying Richards is brilliant but he is better than any other centre currently on the roster. - Beatle_john
Are you freaking kidding me? You actually think Mike Richards is better than Bozak and Kadri? Peter Holland is currently outscoring Richards. Peter Holand... |

So you are satisfied with your Centre position then? In that case, hand me the waffles and get me a sling-shot. - Beatle_john
You think Mike Richards is better than every centre the Leafs have. You are nuts. the guy is finished. |

You show me how Kadri is getting better and I will stop thinking you are 12.
Also, I am not avoiding any issues you bring up... some are so obviously skewered that you will never talk debate and just go for insult comedy. - Beatle_john
Kadri has been better than Richards the past 3 years. It's not even close. |
