I'm thinking there is already a trade on the books but LA wants to see if they can rid themselves of him instead of taking on another contract.

I am predicting he'll clear waivers then get traded by week's end.

I haven't paid attention, what's the deal with Richards? Is he boozin' or overweight? Did he sleep with another player's wife? Or, is he there something to suggest he won't ever be able to regain his form as a 50-60point player?

He's signed until 2020 and will only further decline as he gets older. I'd much rather see you guys claim him than sign or trade for a legit top 6 forward making that kind of money sometime in the future.

I believe that only takes affect if he goes down to the AHL and is recalled on the recall waivers. At that point each team pays half of the salary remaining.

I actually think a Dion for Richards trade makes some sense here.

Either team is going to be stuck with a bad contract, LA needs defence and Toronto needs a centre. If you have a bad contract why not at least pay it to someone who plays a position that helps your team?

Kings would have to add 1.25m contract to it as well to balance out the cap hits. Unless Leafs are retaining bc the Kings shouldnt be taking on cap hit.
