Confirmation the flyers won this trade. I'll take Simmonds and Schenn any day over underperformer being waived - arichardson22
I'll take two cups in three years |

I'm thinking there is already a trade on the books but LA wants to see if they can rid themselves of him instead of taking on another contract.
I am predicting he'll clear waivers then get traded by week's end.
Richards and LA's first rounder for Phaneuf? |

I haven't paid attention, what's the deal with Richards? Is he boozin' or overweight? Did he sleep with another player's wife? Or, is he there something to suggest he won't ever be able to regain his form as a 50-60point player? - AlfieFever

You assume he wins the cup if he stays with the Flyers. Whereas I think the Kings win the cup even without Richards.
Flyers won that trade hands down when you look at the players involved. - MBFlyerfan
So others cant assume that he has success with Philly.
Yet you can assume that LA wins without Richards?
hmmm...
Also, Richards was very much a part of LA winning in 11-12 |

Wake me up when you guys have 2 cups in 3 years with the guys you got in the trade.
- classic321
These guys are still young and have long career ahead of them. Never know what could happen. Did people expect the kings to win the cup as an 8th seed? Never. |

Just because you can "afford" it doesn't make it a good purchase.....i.e. Tranny Hookers? - Cush29
Your example certainly put that comment into perspective!

Dion on waivers in 48hrs...FreakyBuzz breaking story |

He's signed until 2020 and will only further decline as he gets older. I'd much rather see you guys claim him than sign or trade for a legit top 6 forward making that kind of money sometime in the future. - Nucker101
he isn't a top 6 forward... stick him on the third line for a bit then waive him |

This year maybe but not next season (as far as I know). And he is not a UFA before 2020. - deadpoulet
I believe that only takes affect if he goes down to the AHL and is recalled on the recall waivers. At that point each team pays half of the salary remaining. |

Dion on waivers in 48hrs...FreakyBuzz breaking story - DDM-Coga
I actually think a Dion for Richards trade makes some sense here.
Either team is going to be stuck with a bad contract, LA needs defence and Toronto needs a centre. If you have a bad contract why not at least pay it to someone who plays a position that helps your team? |

And what if he goes unclaimed after you waive him in a year or 2? You're still on the hook for around 5M per season until 2020 even if he's in the AHL. |

comon flames take him you've got over 10mil cap anyways - monymonymony
First off we have enough center depth ...so why claim him
Second just because you have cap space doesn't mean you have to waste it
Third what do you do when your centers are Monahan bennett backlund in a few years ...waive Richards ??? |

I agree. Plus there is the possibility Kings used Dion as a rental almost for playoff push this year and try to move him elsewhere in summer? |

Kings would have to add 1.25m contract to it as well to balance out the cap hits. Unless Leafs are retaining bc the Kings shouldnt be taking on cap hit.
They should be able to work out a trade |
