I think his "leadership" is part of what got him run out of town.
- Slump Buster

I don't know. I read on the LA board last year that he isn't/wasn't playing motivated, slow on the back check. The last guy to jump back over the boards on the line change. Definitely soured Sutter on him.

And after he was traded because of his "Leadership" Philly went on to become terrible while Richards help lead the Kings to two cups in three years.
- ImThatGuy

The Kings wont two cups in three years and he was on the team. Lets not pretend that Richards played on a significant role on either or both. If he was so significant they wouldn't have been trying to dump him for the last year.

Yea his 15 pts in 20 games on LA's first run had nothing to do with it. Richards the year after being traded was great for LA.

The contract for Richards works, if they find a top 6 spot for him.

The team is dead last in points and goals.

No reason not to claim him IMO.

Plus the kings do not play a system that is friendly for descent stats.

middle of the pack this season, bottom 1/4 last season in goals

Agree.

I don't want the team to get much better this year and he won't turn it around. But next year he'd be a pretty valuable guy on a young team.

Grabbing Richards does 4 things

1. Takes some heat off of Girgens
2. Allows the team to be flexible with Reinhart, Gringo and their first pick (keeping them at center or moving them to wing)
3. Improves our special teams.
$. Moves Coho 1 step closer to being out the door.

All good things.

Richards would be a nice add but the years on his contract are the problem.

Nice

I picked up 20 of them 2 years ago. They are stashed in their case with all the other cards.
