Someone call Darcy and tell him one of the "top 20 centers in the league" is there for the taking...

Like I said I like Richards but maybe that messes up our pick ? I would want the Sabres to get him over the Oilers, screw them.

Richards has 15 pts in 47 games, he is not helping us that much.

He's also playing a 4th line role.

The Kings have placed Mike Richards on waivers.
Richards, 29, has fallen a long way since being drafted 24th overall in 2003. He has a career-high of 80 points in 2008-09, but has registered just five goals and 10 assists (15 points) in 47 games this season. The Kings have reportedly tried trading Richards as of late, but the last trade fell through last night. If someone elects to claim him, he comes with a $5.75 million US cap-hit.

Is it because of the emergence of their young guns? Toffoli, Pearson, etc..?

Just an opinion but Richards played a large leadership role at a young age in Philly. Then he goes to a team lead by the likes of Brown, Stoll, Kopitar and Gaborik and his role is diminished.

Maybe his ambition and enthusiasm has diminished. I really liked that SOB on Philly...

If he is on the downside. He wouldn't make stick boy on this team in 2 seasons. He would be here for 5 more

No offense but why would a 29 year old with a guaranteed contract still to pay him $20MM+ just retire?

I think his "leadership" is part of what got him run out of town.

They know a team is going to claim him as burying him only saves 900k and they only have 2.8 in space.

Someone at the bottom or on the Bubble is gonna take a Flyer on him IMO.

Argh - supposedly the last-ditch attempt to trade Richards was with the Leafs. Can you imagine if that had worked out? It would have been perfect.

And after he was traded because of his "Leadership" Philly went on to become terrible while Richards help lead the Kings to two cups in three years.

He's not ready...

But seriously Richards doesn't improve us that much if at all this season, but next season he would help I think.

Top 6:

Ennis, Richards, Moulson, Reinhart, McEichel, well its a top 5
