Thats interesting i thought lemieux was a Richard(wasnt a fan), i remember in the blue vs gold game he kept taking late runs at risto and both times ended up on the wrong end of it. He's got that little $hit head smirk too.

In regards to zads...i think hes just a dumb teenager lol (also in a foreign country) he'll be fine. The best thing for him is to have strong competition. Right now he doesn't he knows that he:... cant be sent down... benoit and messzaros blow...and mike weber is welll...mike weber

I wanted so much for the Sabres to draft Barbashev.

Was a little disappointed. However, Lemieux has really shown he can put the puck in the net this year.

If you're not 15 mins early, you're 15 mins late.

Makes it look like you don't wanna be there.

They remember that come promotion and/or raise time.

I agree man. When you have a job that you love, you pre plan for error. Its not like he was visiting family back home. Maybe as this team evolves from being better than losing 11 straight, his(and everyones) sense of team pride kicks in.

I hear ya...
Barbashev prob has higher upside, but Lemieux is more of a "sure thing" 2nd/3rd line guy
We still likely have at least a "good" player

Only goalie the Sabres are interested in from Boston is Subban

Lemieux will never be a second liner in the NHL. The guy is nothing more then a 3rd line suspension machine. Right now he looks nothing more than a Raffi Torres. Barbashev is a top 2 line player.

I wanted Barbashev.

However, Lemieux has 31 goals in 40 games. He is on pace for 53 goals in a 68 game season. Torres never did that, even in junior.

My guess is 12 of those will either be traded or not offered contract

I do not think that will be an issue

do you see the sabres resigning
Matt Ellis
Patrick Kaleta
Drew Stafford
Chris Stewart
Andrej Meszaros
Andre Benoit
Tyson Strachan
Drew Bagnall
Nathan Lieuwen
Kevin Sundher
Jordan Samuels-Thomas
Torrey Mitchell

- homiedclown

I can see Ellis and Strachan resigned.

Kaleta still has a year left on his contract. Wouldn't mind putting him on waivers. Hackett, Flynn, Grigorenko, Neuvirth and Enroth should also be on that list. I believe Hackett has fallen out of favor here. He's already been put on waivers.

Hackett had to clear waivers before they could assign him to Rochester. It had nothing to do with "falling out of favor".

I believe he was in the 40's for goals once or twice. Plus he had a 90+ point performance in his second season in the OHL. Lemeiux hasn't put up those points.

Ya they could have kept him up instead of reassigning him and risk losing him to another team. So yes it does have something to do with falling out of favor. A team isn't going to risk losing someone they WANT on the team in the future just for a quick fix on the roster. Exactly how the Harding situation is working out in Minny. Also Hackett's NHL and AHL stats are horrible. Doubt he is part of the future plans in Buffalo.

I do see where jammerz is coming from...
When we drafted him I kinda saw him as a 3rd liner too
His goal scoring this year has me thinking he can be the "gritty" part of a top2 line
Dare I say, possibly our version of a Callahan or D.Brown
We all kinda hoped Foligno might turn into that guy, but it looks like Lemieux at least has some more offensive talent where he might be able to fit into a bigger role than just 3rd line banger

He was coming off a 9 month injury/rehab.

He needed to play himself back into game shape. He wasn't going to do that with Buffalo.

Was there a real threat of another NHL team claiming a player coming off such a devastating injury? No. Because of the injury, I doubt Murray was losing sleep over someone else claiming him.

Is he in their future plans? No, probably not. But I doubt Murray is in the business of just dumping assets.

The thing that I think sets Lemieux apart is his desire. The kid looks like nothing will stop him. Same can't be said for Fatty Torres, then or now.

But, BUT, it's still early. I'm not going to annoint him anything, yet.
