I thought about putting the trade option in there, and probadly should have, but I read that the Kings just couldn't move him over the break despite desperately trying
- AllInForFlyers

Yeah, but that might change if more teams get involved.

richards would be a perfect bottom 6 forward for the playoff push. i think it would be awesome seeing him as the third wheel behind crosby and malkin. my how times change.

but for that salary. its just astronomically bad.

I admire Lombardi for sacking up and making the call; if Umberger hadn't picked it up, I wanted Hextall to make that same tough decision

When his skating started to go, it became one of the worst contracts not just in hockey, but pro sports, because of the term

if septa and the regional rails are all good, i should be alright.

the term is everything.

i really dont know what it is. the skating does seem to be gone. and we can say oh pluck him out of there and put him in a different style and he would be good. but skating is skating, doesnt matter what jersey you have on.

and i agree. the lack of numbers doesnt bother me so much as just he often looks decrepit.

No your not being lazy, there are circumstances that make this a female dog to get around.
No one has 2 hours to sit in the car for a 15 minute commute anymore.

I wonder if potential litigation is the reason most places close in advance of seeing the real snow, (as oppose to the potential prediction)?

yeah. the car rides can be brutal. i drive maybe 8 minutes to my train station, but its all side streets that basically can only hope to see a plow come down if one ends up lost.

He was never a great skater, but even I never thought it would go that fast

I should be precise: I think he still thinks the game pretty well. I think he sees the play just fine.

But he just can't "get there" anymore

Patco would shutdown sometimes at night, especially when they ice on the rails, (when I worked nightshift). Sometimes its easier to just status quo ahead of time

i agree on all counts.

and if you didnt know any better, sometimes it strikes me as just a lack of effort. but he never was one to not have his foot on the pedal at all times. i just think at this point, he is spinning his wheels.

Little surprised Edmonton didn't claim him, they need a veteran center/leader.
40 points a year, with veteran leadership can go a long way in that lineup.

Skating is a funny thing; it just shows you what it takes to be a professional player

Richards would probably destroy any one of us athletically, at 29 years of age

But he looks like an old man on the ice in an NHL game
