Jeff Carter has filed a waiver claim for Mike Richards

He has the NHLPA office held up at gun point.

He might've left his feet. Not sure. We'll need an official ruling.

That's more of a Braydon Schenn special.

So he's third best out of 6 at being less terrible. That's worth 5 more years at $5M.

You're right. Ability to win 50/50 pucks, knocking players off pucks, defensive awareness, shot blocking, and stick positioning are other aspects in which he's lacking.

I would disagree. His defensive coverage in his own zone is very strong. He led the NHL in shot blocking last season. He's not a very physical defender, but he wins more then his fair share of puck battles, and also has a solid stick. He also moves the puck quickly and efficiently. I want to see him exert himself and become more aggressive offensively, and put up more points, which would increase his value as a player.

Richards is probably about as effective as Okposo without the ability to hold his stick with the top hand. I always thought he would make a great Penguin but he may have declined too much for that contract to be any good in 2017.

He tried that desperate slide check and then didn't pick anyone up. 4 on 4 is pretty obvious when it comes to who you pick up on defense. Then again, that's what Mark Eaton looked like for the majority of his second stint as a Penguin.

He slides into the corner, gets up, picks up no one, falls to a knee, and spins around away from the play. Picture perfect defensive positioning.

I have seen carrots play better defense.
