When your team acquired Thomas Vanek it was last year. He was a pending UFA. Thus making him a rental last year. Is your school system so sub par down there that you can't comprehend simple thoughts like this. Maybe the "no child left behind" thing was before your time because it clearly looks like you've been left in the dust with the rest of the window lickers by your education system.

I'm still trying to figure out what point you're trying to make with this. That we were bad last year? Congrats. What happened to your argument about "win now"? Stay on topic dude. I can only keep up with one flawed argument at a time. It takes time to post gifs.

Sorry bro but cant have majority of Dmen making $$$$ with not much room for other possible players. If Boychuk & Leddy resign, to go along w/Hammer, then Lee, Nelson, Strome will need extensions. Unless the cap continues to gradually increase every year, then that's a possibility.

first and foremost, some of you guys are ridiculous. the guy made a proposal, no need for some to get so bent outta shape over it (not referring to you necessarily).

1) i never said how much id want petry to make...if its 3MM then all of a sudden its a good deal.

2) in future news, isles are going to have to trade some of these guys because they wont be able to either a) find spots for them or b) afford to keep them all

3) i believe its already been announced that the cap is increasing.

actually if you go look at my first reply to his proposal, it was pretty unemotional. Now if you look at the responses from him from then on, it looks pretty similar to a rabid dog foaming at the mouth.

We are a winning team now w/loads of talent, that's not appealing???

* are u mad at isle fans bc the team became good fast from being a laughing stock in the league, and your team continues to go in circles?

- Ur Not Me

Your team dwindled for a long time so get off your high horse there buckaroo. You guys were a year ahead of us in your rebuild as you picked 1st overall the year before we did the first time. I think snow did a great job in the offseason. Halak, Grabovski, and Kulemin were all signings I wanted the Oilers to make and the trade for Boychuk was pretty sweet too. You guys are doing very well this year. I love Dal Colle. He's gonna be an elite sniper. I just think you guys desparately need help on your D for the playoffs. If not Petry I would take a look at Franson from the Leafs although I think Petry is a lot more defensively responsible

On behalf of the NYS Board of Education, I would like formally apologize to both you and whatever esteemed institution you received your prestigious higher education at that taught you such eloquent offensive-euphemisms for the mentally challenged.

Funny how all the Islander fans laugh off my proposal. If you guys don't get defensive help going into the playoffs you will be a 1st round knockout and the loss of your 1st rounder is gonna sting that much more.
- Ihatebrianburke

You really think islander fans are worrying about what number our 1st is going to be next year? They are sitting near the top of the conference for the first time in 20 years and you wanna talk about next years 1st?? Apreciate the offer but Pulock is probably the best D prospect they have and will be playing on the island next year. If they are moving Pulock in a deal my guess it wouldn't be for a rental and low 1st rd pick. Isles are built for the long haul with or without petry

What do you think the Oilers are going to end up doing with Yakupov? Do they stick with it, and hope that he turns the corner? Or, do they move him?

I saw the kid play a ton in Juniors, and he was an absolute stud. Surprised that he is struggling the way he is.

I love Yakupov and still think we made the right choice taking him. Hiring Eakins was absolutely brutal for his development and he lost all confidence. Nelson has started to turn things around here for both the team and yak. Since he's been placed on our newly formed 2nd line with Derek Roy and Benoit Pouliot there is a noticeable difference in his game. He still makes boneheaded plays now and then but so do all kids. Part of the learning curve. I think he turns it around under Nelson. He might not ever be a 40 goal guy but he will be a quality NHL player and it would be a shame if we traded him away now. I'd much rather get rid of Eberle as i don't see there being room for both long term

Bailey, Donovan, and the 5th overall

Isn't that the going rate for everyone?

Leaving the Rangers with a third, which we now know is Gord Clark's sweet spot (Tambellini, Buchnevich and Duclair in 2013 and Iverson last year)

I like Mayfield but we need someone a little more high end than that. This why I'd like to package that 1st from Pittsburgh.
