I realize everyone over values their players but the value really isn't far off there. The Islanders need another reliable right shot defenseman if they want to do anything in the playoffs. Petry is available as a rental. Pulock was mid 1st. The Pittsburgh 1st will be a late one most likely in the 24-30 range. I think Petry is definitely worth the difference between the Pittsburgh 1st and Pulock and might even resign if he likes it there. - Ihatebrianburke
I'd rate pulock higher than Reinhart and I wouldn't move either of them. Boychuk will get a nice contract and having Reinhart and pulock to step in next year on rookie salaries keeps our cap under control. Have no interest in moving either of them for insurance for two months. |

Funny how all the Islander fans laugh off my proposal. If you guys don't get defensive help going into the playoffs you will be a 1st round knockout and the loss of your 1st rounder is gonna sting that much more. - Ihatebrianburke
Frankly this team is now set up to be a good one for a while. Your proposal sucks for our future. We're not in win now at all costs mode, go talk to the rangers. |

Your GM pretty much put you in win now mode when he traded your 1st rounder away for magic beans. |

I disagree wholeheartedly!! The Islanders DO NOT need to make a trade and be active at the deadline. We do not have a first or second rounder this yr, so unless you can get one for Bailey or Grabner, forget it! I would not trade Reinhart or Pulock for Petry either. If you want to do Donovan for Petry, Id make the deal. |

So we'd give up Petry a very capable top 4 Dman, and a 1st rounder in a deep draft, for a 24 year old dman that can't even stay in the league? |

we're not giving you blue chip prospects for a rental and a late first rounder. we don't need to.
under 25:
tavares, lee, strome, nelson, leddy, hamonic, dehaan
key ufa's at the end of the year:
boychuk
everyone else is an rfa or a bit part (visnovsky will likely retire and be replaced next year by reinhart or pulock) so tell me how not having a first rounder this year means we have to gut the team further to secure a rental?
are you the one in charge of the oiler's rebuild? because that would explain things.

How is it gutting the team to replace one 1st round prospect with another and also get a valuable piece to make a push deep in the playoffs in the east??? |

Uninformed? So your GM didn't trade away your 1st rounder for (frank) all??? Ya he did! |

Well I guess it's a good thing that we're winning a whole lot of hockey games then. You can keep UFA Jeff Petry if the price is one of our top 3 prospects. Unless the 1st rounder is YOURS, which it won't be. |

Pulock had made the team out of camp but got hurt as camp finished. If we need an extra defenseman in the playoffs I'd rather lean on reinhart/pulock than give one of them up for a rental in petry. No thanks dude, enjoy the 2nd round pick he'll bring you from someone else.

Shame the Islanders have never been able to recover from dealing that #1 pick. |

and this means we're in "win now at all costs" mode? Really? Because I'm looking at a team with all the pieces in place to stay together for several years. If Boychuk signs, that sets our defense for likely the next 5-6 years.
I don't think you have a good grasp on what win now means. It means the window is closing. Ours is just starting to open.

this poor bastard has obviously been abused by Kevin Lowe for so long that he thinks drafting high is winning.
