Price in the same number of games before his extension:
2.42 GAA, .919 SV%
Bernier:
2.52 GAA, .919 SV%
Not saying he's as good as Price, not saying he's worth the same money, not saying he shouldn't take less since he hasn't been the starter as long as Price was, not saying he will ever be as good as Price, not saying it is exactly an apples to apples comparison...
But really, what other course do you suggest? A 2 year bridge that makes him a UFA after signing it, and giving him WAY more power? Trade him? I'd love to hear it. - mcleafs
Yes, he isn't proven at all... He hasn't done near enough, what will he be like in the playoffs?.. Will he give his customary 1-2 goal 1st period lead?... He is percentage goalie who is small, which is not a good combo either.... Let him prove it and then pay him accordingly... I have no problem giving him big bucks if he has proven it over 4-5 years rather than 2... |

Another dman that makes more than Phaneuf. And it's worse in his own end. |

Yeah, Franson totally makes Dion better
Like that stupid pinch that had Dion being the only man back on a 3 on 1.
Again your hatred is making you exaggerate.
Did Holzer and Kostka make Dion better?
You know what the difference between Dion and other top pairing guys on other teams? They all have top pairing partners.... - jbold
You missed the point, if Dion is a number #1 Dman he could play with any D partner, instead he will need a great partner to make him look good. Stop defending the sack poop of a captain, he looks horrible this year and he has six more to go, you think he will magically get better? |

Bernier's numbers are pretty lousy this year. not sure signing him long term to big $ is such a no-brainer.

He's telling you that Weber's making 11 or 12 milly per year so in his opinion Dion at 7 isn't as bad as you're making it out to be.
(frank) it's like watching two seagulls fight over a paper napkin. - The Law
Weber makes 750 thou more, he doesn't make 11 or 12, however if Dion is a 7 he bloody should be... |

He's looked lke the Leafs best dman this year and he has been.
Weber didnt look good without Suter. Up until this year.
So yeah when going up against top players in the NHL, a top pairing dman usually needs to have a top pairing partner....
Im not missing the point. You just refuse to look around the league and see top Dman have extremely good partners.. |

And how pray tell do you make this happen? He's 27 next year, which means whatever deal he gets, be it a QO 1 year or otherwise takes him to UFA status. So if you offer him 3.5m, how long do you think he'd take that? Cause if I'm his agent, I say rip it up straight away, tell them to go F themselves in French, and go to arbitration.
He'll get the same money as that offer for the year (easily with his numbers, doubly so compared to his counterpart), then be potentially the hottest UFA goalie of the last decade. |

It's not overpaying unless you live in 2009..
The cap is going up, and players salaries are going up. Its the new NHL.
(frank). Dave Bolland makes 5.5 and look what Orpik and Niskanen got.
And Franson is apparently demanding the same contract Niskanen got
Seriously dude. You've done nothing but argue with me all day, and you havent actually brought up anything useless. Seems like you're just looking to get a rise.
Beat it, kid. |

i was gonna get a 1 month season pass on that account so i could see the trade rumour page, but i changed my mind.
no 2.99 for EK - the_eye
yeah, not sure it is worth 2.99
Write a program to generate random trades yourself... it would be more entertaining and realistic
I actually don't believe ANY sources of inside information unless the stuff is being purposely leaked. I am guessing 99% of what is ever discussed is never shared outside of the meeting.

Not proven, there are lots of good goalies around, not worth the risk right now, he's going to get big money and hasn't played long enough as a starter and has been totally insulated by not having to play really long stretches, and not ever playing the 2nd of B to B and 3rd in 4 nights... Lets give him 25 like Holtby and see what he does, I bet any money we would see what he really is, and if they want to lock him up, they better give him a ton of games to make sure... |

They shouldn't be complaining about Dions contract. |
