The Draft was in a sense hilarious. But was also kind of mean and hurtful.

I felt pretty bad for PK. Frequently getting made fun of. That whole thing isnt going to make him play any better for the Leafs.

He would thrive there. No media pressure, and on one of the best defensive teams in hockey where all he has to do is score. James Neal is a better version of JVR, and Ribiero is better set up man than Bozak... For the Preds, this trade could put them into serious contention. For the Leafs, depending what other pieces come back (cap issues would probably have to come much closer to equaling out) this would certainly go a long way in signalling the much needed rebuild. Would help us get a higher draft pick as well.

That is such an overused cliche. It makes no sense to say that just because a player is part of "the core" he should be traded. Any team needs scoring, a strong #1 centre, a top defence pairing and goalies that are consistent and can steal games.

Leafs have one of those things

Kessel is a great scorer - there's no debating that. But I've read time and time again, the only player almost all you guys wouldn't trade is Reilly. So adding another top tier defensive prospect who can be considered "like Reilly" would give us two untouchables.

The only thing that Kessel does for us is make us a little bit better, and thusly get worse draft picks. Kessel would be amazing to have, if we had a better team. Problem is, we don't - and won't for a few more years. In 3+ years when a potential rebuild is turning the corner, Kessel might not be as durable as he is now. Jones and Reilly could be our Seabrook and Keith by then. With high draft picks in between replacing Kessel with the likes of a few top 5 picks, or an overpriced free agent to compliment the young team we have by then.
