Remember folks. Philly made a mistake trading Richards for Simmonds and Schenn because Richards won a cup..
- jbold
Richards and Carter have played in 3 of the last 5 SCFinals, and another CF, I'm pretty sure Richards sucks... I'm not saying claim him, but he's been there for a reason... |

exactly. Bernier hasn't proved yet that he's a true #1 workhorse... seems to tire out pretty quickly when they run him too many games in a row...
and there's that whole "letting in a softee trend"...
anything more than 3.5/year for an RFA would be nuts (my opinion). - BorjeFan4Ever

I doubt anybody would claim a 5 more years at 5.5 for someone on waivers. LA saves 900k in cap space. - TheMussel
Just what Edmonton needed was a veteran former captain!

So anyways.
imagine if the Leafs did trade our best Dman for Richards? Yikes.
If he does clear tomorrow, LA is going to have to eat a lot of salary in order to move him.
Or take back a poopty contract.
Robidas+Clarkson for Richards - jbold
The Leafs are not trading Polak. |

Of course they played on great teams, they were a part of it though, and Richards was a big part of the first 2, last year not so much... |

Yes, big part of the first win. Not so sure since. He's dropped off dramatically.
I really hope the Leafs don't even try to get him. Even swapping for Clarkson I find troublesome. Clarkson has more points. |

TOR/CGY believed to be teams talking recently to LA about Richards trade. Guessing Leafs/Flames were trying to move their bad contracts.--- Bob Mac
Clarkson for Richards? Lupul for Richards? - jbold
You got the wrong bad contract the Leafs are trying to move. |

Richards was a 70 point top two-way centre with a Selke nod when traded for...not a 15 point player. Thank you for hindsight, I just wished you had told us in the past while they were winning a Cup with him as their second line centre, made the Eastern Conference finals, then another Cup as their third line option.
I'd take losing a 2nd line scorer and PP specialist power forward for 3-4 years of competing for a Cup. |

How much has he dropped is the question... Would he be that horrible if he was given more ice time, on LA others have surpassed him, but it's LA, they have big depth at centre, I figure he wouldn't be a bad 3rd liner with some pop if he was given some decent wingers, having said that, 4 million tops... |

No, he became a second line centre behind Kopitar. He was expected to be a 50-60 point defensive guy and he was that until last playoffs where his skating fell out. |

You mean top 2Dman who gets paid like one? Yeah. Totally.
Should look around the league and realize he got market value. |

And meanwhile, Simmonds and Schenn are doing pretty good.
If the leafs traded Kadri/Kulemin for Richards. Would you have thought it was a good trade? |
