I think the leafs should try to make a trade with Nashville. Kessel being the main part going, with seth jones being the main piece coming back. whatever add-ins that are needed to balance cap issues and whatnot - both teams get something they desperately need. Nashville - more scoring, and Leafs someone who can actually play defense.

A guy in his prime (who the GM for Nashville has spoken positively about numerous times) who is tied for 13th in scoring - for a defenseman of the future who is currently used as a second pairing guy for Nashville... He would thrive there. No media pressure, and on one of the best defensive teams in hockey where all he has to do is score. James Neal is a better version of JVR, and Ribiero is better set up man than Bozak... For the Preds, this trade could put them into serious contention. For the Leafs, depending what other pieces come back (cap issues would probably have to come much closer to equaling out) this would certainly go a long way in signalling the much needed rebuild. Would help us get a higher draft pick as well.
