I wish all the players did
Vorecek 6 points
Tavaras 5 points
Seguin 5 points - Bieksa#3
And Johanson walks away MVP I could care less if you're in a small market and you potted a couple goals. It makes the NHL look so bad. JT matched an allstar game record for goals and several other players had better games.

I'm not a big art rock fan as a rule—The Who is my band of choice from that era.
But I loved that first Dream Academy album and the production on Life in a Northern Town. I must have known about Gilmour at the time, but it feels like a new (and highly obscure) bit of information to my brain today.
Thanks! - Carol Schram
What is also interesting about The Dream Academy is afaik they only had 3 records.
Dream Academy -Gilmour produced
Remembrance Days Lindsey Buckingham produced
A Different Kind of Weather Gilmour produced
First two records were good. Third one was a bit too much about social issues (still great sounding) but has a nice cover of Love - John Lennon song. and the second record also has a great copy of Everybody's got to learn sometime.
I wouldn't hesitate to have their first record as one of my desert island discs. |

Seen the Who live back in the 70s at the Montreal Forum . Great band - VANTEL
My wife and a close friend of hers were comped Who tickets here in Vancouver - (they were both into marketing and advertising), mid 90's I believe... they were in there for a few songs, weren't familiar with the songs so they just left...
I never even knew they had tickets. |

If they had the all star game in Toronto, would Kessel get the MVP?
(I'm really not sure it is a given) |

Those clowns would give it to a Toronto native and then tell us the guy wants to play there |

Was guessing I would hear something similar. Can't wait to see these prospects develop and hopefully make the big club.

They would throw their Kessel sweaters and vote him mvp. |

Good call, senor HillbillyDeluxe... I really fell in love with their stuff, for their dreamy, vocal styles and mesmerizing production values i.e use of a string section etc). My favourite track is probably Twelve Eight Angel but I find most of their compositions are excellent.
And you are right, Carol, that "Love is Real" cover of John Lennon is one of the few fantastic interpretations I've heard. Thanks for some of the info, 'Billy, interesting stuff (Lindsey Buckingham, one of the few very under rated guitarists of his era - ugg, don't get me started )
All in all, great input from you guys, despite the non-hockey topic.
Oh, and Vantel, hell has once again frozen over, as we both agree - the Who/Townshend - were genius and incredible 'live' ( I saw them on the Quadrophenia tour, which was a truly a special musical masterpiece) |

Me too, not a fan of Gilmour's stuff, Water's is the man. - A_SteamingLombardi
Gilmour's first two solo records had some decent tracks but On An Island was a bust IMO.
I like all the different Floyd eras. Barrett...Gilmour...I even have the new Floyd album on vinyl and it's pretty damn good. Very Division Bell based but very good.
Gilmour is one of the best pure 'feel' guitarists of all time.
I saw the Wall a few years back in EDM when Waters was passing through and it may have been the best concert I have ever seen. When Mother came on...there wasn't a dry eye in the house. |

Carol, if you really like Dream Academy, I think you'd enjoy Blackfield - I've added a link to one of their tunes. Same sort of dreamy, but a little bit more rock influenced, melodic fare which you are essentially pretty instantly hooked. Anyway, see what you think:

You Sir, are a scholar and a gentleman (ok, not sure about the gentleman but certainly about the scholar - at least musically lol - so it's all good).
Right on the money, my friend, right on the money indeed (to me Gilmour and Hackett (of early Genesis) were the most pure 'feel' guitarists of all time, although perhaps Hackett had more of a classical upbringing). Great stuff which has stood up to the test of time. Any of these albulms we are mentioning could be a candidate for 'top ten 'island' compositions :thumbsup |

Ok, really, are you my long lost twin brother whom my parents kept and decided to sell me on E-Bay?
Unreal, don't know anyone that has that much background on Dream Academy (as well as the giants of Floyd and Yes of course). Again I say to thee Sir |

Steve Wilson (who is essentially the main composer in the band is very prolific and also has solo stuff). I think you'd really like these guys if you enjoyed that particular track. Blackfield I and II are consistently fantastic, while Blackfield III is still not a bad collection of pieces. |

Just enjoy good music, but often find the discussion of what people call good just as enjoyable as the music.
Cheers.
Love a good groove too. Check out Steve Winwood- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEkpGhmIC_U |
