Exactly. Creativity.

BoHo and Virtanen are going nowhere but there are options for Benning if he is shrewd.

Seriously!?!?
Horvat or Virtanen for Doan?!?!?

better cost us fukk all.
- vancity787

haha I was trying to think of a nice way to say that.....

Doan might be great, or his words might just hit the floor. For better or for worse our core has had so much more success than him - always. If he comes in and is a big airbag on a short term "I will save you" mission his impact will be marginal I think.

That said if he comes in and takes it as his last exit before Loserville (which is where he is going and has been, and will probably return) he will be a great pick up. I think Kassian is too steep. Give them Dane fox and a third.

According to TSN The canucks could be looking at Shane Doan to fill that TOP 6 role we have been looking for.

Mats Sundin experiment all over again, except we will have to give up something to get him.

- classic321

TSN sucks, unless it's Mackenzie with the report... Dreger is total douche bag

It would be. I have been a Horvat advocate since I first got on HB and have never wanted him traded. I believe he will be a selke candidate in 5 years.

I like Virtanen alot as well it will be great to see what he can do at camp next year.

Doan is useless to us, I'd rather go for OEL and offer Lack, Corrado, Jensen/Shikaruk and a 2nd. With OEL we have the PMD we lack and PP QB and we have the beginning of a new D-core with Edler and OEL and Sbisa going forwards.

Yotes are not trading OEL anymore than the Canucks are gonna trade Alex Edler. He's a good young dman but so was Edler at one point. For the record at 23 Edler was a 42 pt defenceman.

Is that prospect virtanen or horvat
- Bieksa#3

That's what it would take no doubt if we are talking OEL/Yandle.

I wonder if some form of package could land us Doan (who is more of a cap-dump, thanks for playing in ARZ all these years as requested here's ur trade to Van) and a D prospect like Gormley, Murhpy or P. Samuelsson as they are loaded on defense

I am in no way advocating giving up much to get Doan.

But if this scenario is similar to what played out between us and Anaheim, with Kesler. I am wondering how little we would have to give up to get him?

Doan has his ntc and almost signed here before he signed with Arizona. If he has a small list of teams or no list, just the Canucks, he'd be willing to waive for...

He only has one season remaining after this one. Might be a good stop gap while prospects are maturing, just don't know how it works with the cap and what would have to go the other way.

If it is a choice of him not waiving or waiving only for the Canucks, the Yotes may take whatever deal is offered to just cut salary and tank.

Doan never "almost signed here". It was clearly BS leverage. They didn't make his deadline and he still didn't sign with the Canucks. Clearly it was a case of using Van's offer as a bluff.

I disagree. I believe he obviously wanted to stay in Phoenix but if that didn't happen we were his second and only option. I believe he's lives in bc in the offseason.

He's had a chance to change teams quite a few times but he has always maintained wanting to stay in the desert. As far as now, he is sort of in the same situation as the Sedins (not talent wise but career status wise). He won't get much of a return on the market and it's a case of him retiring with Phoenix (and probably joining the organization's management team)

The way I was looking at it was if he only gave one team he would waive his ntc for, and it was the Canucks, it might not cost as much as if there was a bidding war. I was under the impression the Yotes want to cut salary and start building.

Might help bridge the gap a little.

I wouldn't want him if he cost us one of Jensen, Virtanen, Horvat, Cassels, or McCann.

This game is Shiite.

I like the draft idea but I hate that the game is meaningless. They should go back to the eastern/western dynamic and the leading scorers should be able to draft any player from their conference. The winning conference gets home advantage for the Stanley cup finals.

Probably my favourite albulm - Wish you Were Here. Although it's really hard to choose between so many phenomenal works (including Gilmour's solo stuff)
