Yeah, I am unsure how this works. So if you want a player on waivers, you submit a claim, no knowing if other teams have already submitted a claim? The team that gets first dibs and claims said player then knows how many other teams submitted claims?

What do they mean by offering the player to other teams who made claims? Is that like a transfer instead of a trade?

I'm not sure, I couldn't find any examples but I imagine the league would have a record of all the the teams who had put a claim in. I am unsure how the league would rank waiver status, whether it would be retroactive or current. My understanding is that the original claiming team must offer to those teams but only those teams just like waivers. If no teams made a claim or are not interested the original claiming team could then make a trade with claimed player.

I didn't see a time limit set for this though, you would think this would only occur during the season that the player was claimed.

A few days ago I mentioned that with all the goalie injuries I don't think Markstrome would make it through re-entry waivers if the canucks brought him back up from the minors.

Totally unaware that the new CBA eliminated re-entry waivers. You and Lefty pointed out there was no more re-entry claims. Hilarity ensued.

Remember? Two days ago...

Yes I remember very clearly . We told you there is no more re-entry waivers.

This is why I am confused to why you sY Richards will get picked up on re-entry.

Players with bad contract will unlikely be picked up on their second go round of being put on waivers. Therefore the team that claimed him off waivers would get a cap hit and also be responsible for part of the recapture penalty

I agree it is an unlikely situation, was just an interesting note in the CBA about trade rules surrounding a player who has been waived.

Benning said he wasn't after dmen to address Bieksa's absence... looking to see what guys from Utica step up maybe? if Corrado, Weber, Stanton and Sbisa can't get it done.

Suits me just fine. Utica doesn't have many of the canucks actual defensive prospects i don't think.

If that's the case, Richards should retire when the NHL announces the Oilers picking him up, saddling the Kings with massive recapture penalties
- stevekariya

The GM hold the power here. If Richards decides to retire then he will walk away from the Millions that he is due over the next 5 years. I Can see him going to the team that picks him and staying till his actual salary backdives in the last 2 years and then retire.

Hi,

Thanks for the groovy art-rock discussion yesterday. I'll take a look at some of those bands that were recommended.

Meanwhile, here's today's blog, with Mike Richards, Kevin Bieksa and the World Cup of Hockey...

With bieska out injuried, are there plans to trade Kassian or someone else for some defensive help?
- manvanfan

Benning said no.

Biega has also been discussed as a possibility to fill in, someone mentioned Ferraro saying he is ready.

Rebuild will start next year. Shopping Kassian or Lack is hardly 'trading all our young players for rentals'...wake the hell up man. And do a little proof reading as well...I never said move picks or high prospects for aging rentals. All I ever claimed is that Lack/Markstrom were movable at no real expense to the team and IF mngt has given up on Kassian then there may be a deal out there. You seem to forget playoffs are a priority for Benning/Linden and this current roster ain't gonna cut it...some one needs to draw you a road map it appears. I understand the whole 'process' thing but there is a way to improve the club by not giving up picks/prospects and too much youth.

It's a RUMOR site so half truths and exaggerations are played by most on here...that's what makes it fun. When these rumors pop up and circle around there always is some iota of validity to them or they wouldn't exist. When did they become 'fact'? And trade rumors have been surrounding Kassian for well over a month and they don't all come from sources around here...it comes from MANY angles and sources of validity outside of HB...whether tre true or not, who cares? It's fun to talk about and be passionate about improving this club.

Oh right...you wanted Horvat sent down prior to his 9 games...so it appears you don't really understand club improvement or needs at all. At least, that's how it looks anyway.
