Any GM claiming that contract should be fired. He looks done in the games I have seen. I know he is only 29 but he looks either disinterested or the way he played took its toll on him. There has always been the drug and drinking rumors around him. Add in the questions about his fitness and it doesn't look good.

I just read somewhere Bobby Mac is saying he will go to Manchester if he clears. Woah. That is a sign that want him gone and quickly. I would be even more leery of that contract if that is the case.

All that drugs and drinking rumour crap is irrelevant, anybody that watches the Kings can see the wheels aren't there anymore. He skates like Jake Dowell but earns about 10x more.

Big error in judgement by Lombardi, I guess he didn't want to flush the guy down the porcelain pony after winning a Cup. Now he is going to have to buy him out after the season or make a lopsided trade that doesn't help the Kings.

In the sense that it could be a reason why his play has fallen so far? I think its relevant. Not that I care all that much. He sticks the Kings with cap issues. (frank) em.

I'm not so sure what is up with the Hawks and their thoughts on McNeil...Chris Block had an interesting take on it a few weeks ago...here is the link:

And he makes a pretty good point about McNeil's situation

Yes and illustrates a point I bring up often but those who main line the Kool Aid ignore....

There hasn't been a pipeline from Rockford that has led to the Hawks success...That's an out of town stupid notion. Because except for select cases the young players who became a big part of success here in recent years had little if anytime to speak of in Rockford.

I think this is it
Under the 2013 CBA, a team only derives a specific savings from demoting a player on a one-way contract to the AHL. This savings is calculated as league minimum plus $375,000.

Yes....So big market teams can't hide their mistakes now they have to choke on them....

His slide had been happening...Richards was their Dave Bolland when winning the Cup...A 2nd/3rd line player who was slotted down on the 4th line.
What saved the Kings was Carter got healthy and played his best hockey ever.

Just look to Nash, last year concussion problems effected his play. This year, fully healed he is playing excellent. Not to say Richards could ever obtain that level but if he is still suffering post concussion symptoms he could rebound in the playoffs for the Kings. Then his cap hit would not matter at all.

That's what I've been reading, that he hasn't been the same since his last major concussion. And if that's the case, why didn't L.A. put him on LTIR.

Head injuries are a stange animal. My son took a baseline test to measure certain skills (reaction/motor etc) before playing football. A year later he was concussed at school during gym class. High schools have return to play programs where they essentially take the same test. In some areas he was only 25% of base. 6 months later almost all areas returned to normal or were even greater. Balance was the last to hit 100% and that was 9 months after the initial injury. I'm not going to say balance is Richards problem as every concussion is different. But after 4 or 5 injuries of this type it could take its toll. Now he obviously has been cleared to play he may just not be back 100%. That coupled with the fact he was not the fastest player to begin with, if he has lost a half of a step could be some of the reasons he is now a 4th liner on last years S/C winner. I would bet he plays during the playoffs should LA get their act together (close to a full year after his last incident)

LAK waives Mike Richards

Lombardi starting to panic, needs the cap space now and tired of finding someone to take Mike Richards off his hands

Horrible idea. Trade a guy playing at a very high level and replace him with a player that looks done?

Well, we could always just start talking about Leddy again. Im sure people would love that...

But seriously, there will be plenty of posters come time for tomorrow nights game at LA. Especially if we lose/play poorly.
