I have the solution. Instead of spending all that money on a pointless game that the greedy greedy NHLer that is bound to ruin your child's life forever, just buy Center Ice or Gamecenter or hockey streams. Then your scarred for life child can watch these all stars in games that matter, see why they are considered the best, and a better representation of the league. |

If they truly wanted this to be a celebration --- go back to it's original intent... that is a charitable money maker.
Play the game for Charity. --- Children's Hospitals, Cancer Research...
Like the NHL would ever do that!
They should.... but never will. |

that's fine, but it has nothing to do with the actual game
there's nothing to play for, no one wants to get injured thereby it blows and is soooooo (frank)ing boring |

Boo freaking Hoo, Maybe the NHL should do a better job protecting its star players and they won't all be hurt for their little money making circle jerk.
The league deserves every player to pull out until the refs start calling the penalties the way its written. Remember the whole lockout thing???
The game is becoming unwatchable again like it was before the lockout. Interference is rarely ever called and it blatantly occurs 10 times a game.

The game is no where near how bad it was pre lockout. |

I'd be upset that Crosby wasn't playing in the NHL All Star Game if cheap shots, intent to injure, fighting and unskilled goons were replaced with nothing but respectable skilled hockey players. Until then he owes this league NOTHING in return. Sit this one out Sid. Stay as healthy as you can, as long as you can. You never know when the next Matt Cooke or Zac Rinaldo type of player is going to end your career, leaving you mumbling and drooling on yourself from another massive head injury. Thanks for doing the bare minimum to protect our stars NHL. |

Man your right. Its like Crosby never does anything to promote the NHL. I mean so many more players promote the game than he does. He doesn't deserve a couple days off to heal a nagging injury.
F the all star game, and F kids. Kids shouldn't be allowed in NHL stadiums until 15. |

There's probably a million ideas going around out there to remedy the NHLs problems. But suspending these players, most of whom make 7 figure salaries, for a few games obviously isn't working. It's just not a severe enough punishment. Perhaps the teams should be punished too. And punished with enough severity so that it's not advantageous for teams to even field anything but respectable-skilled-players. |

Haven't seen anyone else post this so if I missed it my bad.
"Pittsburgh Penguins centres Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin will miss the NHL All-Star Game game due to lower-body injuries.
Crosby has been playing with the injury and will need about a week to heal. As a result of missing the All-Star Game, Crosby will not be eligible to play in the Penguins' first game after the break against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday."
I'm guessing Malkin doesn't apply to this rule since he missed the Pens last game before the break but since Crosby played in the last game by missing the All Star game he can't play

That's how it works, yup.
If you skip the All-Star game, you have to be injured enough to miss either the game before or the game after the all-star game.
Otherwise, you get suspended.

Where is Melnyk with his offerings of forensic evidence when we need him?
The Penguins have made this to look like Sid would be going against the advice of physicians if he participated in a game as opposed to resting whatever it is that ails him. Maybe that's exactly what the situation is; either way the Penguins weighed the 1 game suspension and the PR disaster then decided to keep their guys out.
Either that or Sid doesn't want to be on Team Foligno. |

JR wants to win one more before he hangs them up for good. He's been around the league long enough that I don't think he gives a (frank) about stepping on the toes of anyone in order to achieve that goal, especially not folks in the NHL offices. |

He wants enough roster space to be open to allow a substitute invitation to be extended to Alexander Semin to the ASG so that his signing doesn't look so very heinous? |
