I think the biggest issue is this doesn't really leave room for any country out of the big six to get a chance to one day be a hockey power in a way. I think that the under 23 team is really stupid, which player would rather play on that team instead of their country? Scratch that team. Sure keep the team made up of 'the rest of the world' because it adds competition and excitement. But do a playoff for at least one team to make it in. That way no one can complain that they didn't get a chance. I understand not wanting to have two underdogs, the chances of both doing something is almost impossible. But give one team a chance, and make a competitive team of the rest.

How can there be a Swiss team when there aren't enough NHL players to make up a team? This is an NHL tournament, with NHL players and the money going to the NHL and the PA. Why shouldn't they make the money from it? Of course, it's not going to replace the Olympics which is great because it is part of a larger event. This will be a tournament of the best players in the world and way better than the annual World Championships.
