Yup..good we dont need them until april. The game is a joke anyways. Though be nice if we could send downie to replace them and he could start taking out other teams stars...

if I watch any of the allstar weekend it's only ever the skills competition. The game is a joke and means absolutely nothing.

I dont see why people have a problem with taking Sid off on that start. All night Sids line was being shut down by Toews line. With 42 second left if Sutters line could of got the faceoff and kept the puck down low for 20 seconds it would have given Sids line 22 seconds to work with in the zone away from Toews. He took a shot and it didnt work out. I think it was a pretty good coaching move to be honest.

I've got a huge problem with taking Sid off in favor of Sutter. Wrong time, wrong zone. MJ has turned me into a non believer with the decisions made in the last few games.

You realize if that happened, some weird ass reverse in the universe's flow would cause us to win that game 6-3 or something.

Disagree 10000% with RW's PP unit of Crosby, Malkin, Perron, Jagr, and Letang. Lots of talent. Horrifying result. Horny has to be on the #1 pp. That isn't even up for debate.

With RW's proposed unit, we'd literally just pass the puck around the perimeter while the defending team stayed in the box and watched the 2 mins go by. No net presence at all. No chance at getting a dirty PP goal at all. Um, that wins in the playoffs. Shocked our blogger doesn't recognize that.

I agree with RW on HCMJ's odd decisions last night. The Sid/Adams things is inexcusable in my mind.

I also agree with RW and Bartley in that its time for Sutter to go. Hell, I'd ship him out for a few draft picks at this point just to get the cap space back. He's the teams #1 p*ssy.

I love the irony in Sid and Malkin being out of the All Star game. If the league cant keep its players healthy, no reason for them to show up for the corporate ass-kissing weekend.

Guess they don't want to be part of "Team Foligno"!

That's a big if on Sutter winning the faceoff. I don't know if I've ever seen a worse team at losing offensive zone faceoffs. It's so frustrating to see them losing faceoffs especially when they are suppose to be a puck control team.

Folingno signed a All Star sized contract so he must be good right? A few people on Hockeybuzz said he was.

@LouisJean_TVA: Sources say Sidney Crosby underwent an MRI at the beginning of the week. Played the following 2 games.

@LouisJean_TVA: Crosby was re-evaluated by the @penguins doctors today that advised him to rest or run the risk of agravating the injury.

I love how the NHL's solution to stop players from choosing rest over All Sponsor Game, is to make them take another game off...

You mean the game that tried to get new fans to follow the game. Which generates more revenue. Which raises the cap. Which puts more money into the players accounts. Yea they shouldn't encourage star players to play

I'm certainly not on board with this notion that Pittsburgh could finally get on with their all-skill, no rat game having lived through the Philadelphia and Islanders games on the schedule. Pittsburgh doesn't get caught up by the lowly play of other teams nearly as much as they anticipate and participate in bush league antics in games.

It's a contact sport that allows certain teams to use intimidating tactics against more skilled opponents. If the Rags & Islanders know they can put Sid in a spin & off his game they win. If Sid (& Geno), do not respond & play their game Pens win. Teams won't go after Sid if they know he won't be put off his game & play hockey. If the Pens can keep their cool & Scuds & Tanger & Despres can hit legal & hard (eg Voracek scumbag), teams won't try & bash the living bejeebees out of the Pens. They need to stick together & play hard with solid hitting & finishing checks where they can - not go out of their way to smash. I think the Habs did that last year - played their game & didn't get frustrated when teams were overly psychical. Losing Price lost them the SCF - still cannot believe that.....see RW previous blog. Pens are learning & with a little luck against the Flyers scum they beat a team that tried to intimidate. Good lesson learnt & they are on their way. (If the King pours water on anyone - you don't shake his hand after the game - he loses any respect he has & should be shown up as being a low dog).

Downie is a valuable player & needs to be playing along with Horny & Comeover - players that weren't on the roster last year but are now!

Is that because their forechecking is not consistent or are you saying that they should be more aggressive? & if aggressive how? I say that because the Hawks are not a dirty team usually (Seabrook? Backes), but are hard forechecking team that puts them on the front foot? They probably don't have the skill that the Pens do but have better results or are they more skillfull?

The Hawks and Pens played the game the way it should be played, IMO.
