Spalling's stick is where offense goes to die. I think we should check Spallings stick for Sutter's corps.

I went to sleep after the 1st. Did I miss anything? When you're an old man in your 30's and you have early morning you crash by 9. Don't get old kids die young

I can't make fun of him the same thing happens when the puck is on my stick.

Also down a 3rd and a 5th from the Goc trade last year.

The 5th was actually a 2014 5th, so just down the 1st and 3rd this year.

Ok... sounds like a typical Shero year then. Expect, our 1st round "rental" is actually staying another year, which in my mind, increases the chance to resign him immensely.

Yeah it's sad. Last night I actually laughed at Spaling and my girlfriend was confused why I was laughing at our own player. I said the same thing last night, he is where offense goes to die.

That site looks pretty sweet for tracking draft picks. It is pretty funny looking at all of the hypotheticals for that 3rd rd pick.

This, he is a good player along the boards and defensively but MJ should prohibit passes to him on the offensive zone. 90% of the time the play just dies.

Sill should take his spot. Seems like his offensive game is about to bloom.

I'm sure it's just a dry spell, but are any of you SOMEWHAT worried about the playoffs?

I mean, this team shouldn't have any trouble making it, but you can't keep pissing away points like this.

Keep not having top 6 players and now, the best Dman on your team. Its hard to even get a true grip on if this team's powerplay needs worked on or not when half is missing.

But playoffs? Not worried about missing it... starting to think we may drop to a mid seed though, which isn't the end of the world.

While there have been a couple of eye raising issues, I still can't get too worked up at this point in the season while missing so many key contributors. Hornqvist and Comeau were a huge part of the early season success. Crosby has returned to form IMO. Skating MUCH better lately.

Despres missing these last two might not have made the headlines, but I think he's been probably our 3rd best D overall this year.

I really believe it's hard to judge how any team will do come playoff time until the last 15/20 games of the year.

The only thing that really worries me is the fact that they can't stay healthy... they need to hire a new physical trainer.. or drink some whole milk or some poop like that... I'm just going to temper my expectations until there is a healthy roster. As the Kings have shown in the past, regular season play doesn't always mean they will not do well in the playoffs. ALTHOUGH a lot of the problems the Pens have has been recurring for the past few years I feel like...

The cusp of greatness. Maybe he will take Malkins place in the ASG.

I thought the Arcobello - Goc - Downie line was electric last night.... 3 guys who are possession players but also have more than just a bit of scoring touch. I think that could be a dynamite 4th line come playoff time.

- Yonk1216

Arcobello has had a couple strong games. He was decent in Philly, and even better last night. He has some offensive touch, and for a little guy, not afraid to go into traffic.

That line of him, Goc and Downie would be a fantastic 4th line.

I posted this late last night regarding Pouliot

Pouliot and Perron were our two best players tonight. Pouliot, in particular, looks like hes in a different class than Harrington. A few gaffes but was playing decent minutes against one of the leagues best teams. Little bit of physicality, some decent threats to score, defending 1 on 1 was mostly good, and still has that crazy threshold for never panicing with the puck.

I've felt all along the kid just needs ice time.

Perron impressed in a lot of ways so far and for me, most notably, is his great work ethic. It remains to be seen if he is experiencing the same sort of short term jolt of energy as Hornqvist did after being traded. Hopefully he can keep it up.

Exactly. The real questions is will his level of greatness make it worth grabbing him as a keeper in my hockey league. Decisions decisions.

Past few years the Pens have coasted through the regular season and into the playoffs. I think this will make them fight for positioning and will be good for them in the playoffs.

Not sure I would call last nights' game "pissing away points". We got a point vs a very good Blackhawks team that was running at near full strength. Take Keith, Kane, Saad, Oduya, and 2 more 3rd/4th line players off their team and have them play against a healthy Pens team, I think they would be happy with a point.

What worries me is when the PP isn't functioning when the team is at or near full strength. They're back to trying too hard to make the pretty passes, instead of just firing the puck at the net and having kuni/hornqvist/perron pick up the garbage. As Eddy said last night, they need to get back to the shoot first mentality and that will open up the lanes for the pretty passes.

I would actually rather see the team struggle for a little while, get healthy down the stretch, and then build some momentum going in to the post-season. The season the won they cup they were struggling through the mid-way point of the year. They don't need to be the top seed in the East at the end of the year, just be playing solid hockey and have their depth available.

While I agree in general, the new playoff format might hand them a matchup that is less than ideal....fwiw.
