Leafs should trade for Wheeler instead and make him wear #18.

I'm not really getting the Kane hype. He's not very impressive.

what ppl fail to see is he has less trade value now then when we acquired him. He was 21 coming off a 36 goal year. His most since is 37 and he's 27. He makes 8 mil for the next 7 years after this. We got him for his best years. He's been dam consistent but hasn't blown his boston numbers away. His best years are now; he is a 35g 80 pt guy who is completely 1 dimensional in every aspect. he will start to decline soon if not now (offensive guys tend to tail off after 27-28). He' s no gym rat so let's say safely he doesn't justify his deal after 2-3 years from now.

PPl need to get over what we gave for him. We aren't getting a hamilton/seguin back. WE may get 2 1sts and a 2nd...but they will be from a good/contending team hence lower picks. He needs to go and that doesn't mean he isn't an elite PIECE, but he is not building block.

2009;:
"Phil Kessel only scored because of Marc Savard. He'll never do that in Toronto"

2015:
Phil Kessel is 3rd in overall NHL scoring the last 4 years with Tyler Bozak as his centre.

Yeah, his value was better in Boston...

So i can quote all the negative phil kessel comments? Please say yes. i clearly remember the deal and being very worried. But obviously the results have satisfied you.

niklas backstrom is a huge point getter. Avgs better than a point a game over the last 4 years. And he's a centre. That's phil kessel for you...lots of offence, little else. But sure, let's stick with what we got

What are the Leafs going to do with Kane? Especially at the price of Kadre ++... that's silly.

what are they going to do? who knows...what should they do? blow up everything (eventually; not right away ) besides rielly and nylander. And if the right deal comes along for those 2, do it.

but most on here will say just tweak...and that we are close. Look at the last 4 years..we sure are close! close to the bottom

youd think he get new "sources" as these ones seem to miss every time.

Since everyone is hating on someone is who doesn't deserve it, I'll easily play devil's advocate. Kessel is paid to put the puck in the net, and paid fairly for his best years(also his UFA years). Went from a place littered with talent, and more importantly, centres, where he produced at an insane clip with semi-limited icetime due to his below average defensive ability.. That's fine. But then he gets traded to a wasteland for talent, and more importantly centres, and is still able to produce at relatively the same rate, while being the only target for opposing defences to shut down. Dude has been an iron man since he got here, I don't need more than one hand to count the games he's missed since he got here. And lastly, before I got to bed. Phil, the Thrill, Kessel. The only player in the NHL to finish top 10 in the scoring the last 3 seasons. Gotta love haters though, lets him know he's doin' something right.

lets trade our young guy with 27 points in 46 games for their young guy with 19 points in 33 games. Lets also through in a young d-man to even it out. We have more than enough center depth to make up for the loss of Kadri. Bozak, Holland, Santorelli (soon to be traded) and Smith!

Eck your "sources" this year have been brutal.. Really brutal. Pretty sure if Nonis or Shanahan was asked they both would say they havent talked to Winnipeg in a while

This is what I was saying in the Leaf message board yesterday and had my head bit off y people thinking he is still incredibly valuable on the market.
He IS valuable... but his stock is not at it's highest for sure.

SJ needs a shakeup. Kessel with a legitimate centerman will score 50. Vessel's value outside of Toronto is still high.

Gardiner and a 1st for Max Domi

Nazem Kadri has averaged a 51 points-per-season scoring pace over is career.

Evander Kane? 50 Points per season.

Kadri is also a career -1, whereas Kane is -13 on his career.

Production-wise they're basically the same player, except that Kane has played 134 more games in the NHL than Kadri has.
