He's always played with kessel. Definitely inflates his stats a bit. Makes too much money for too much term imo.

What if TOR eats some contract? And playing him with Miller and one of Duclair/Buchi might solve the whole Hags/Zucc dilemma considering one or both would be going that way. Got to be honest, Bozak playing with some really good young crop might be a blessing for him. Just playing devils advocate, not necessarily my opinion

TBH, I wouldnt mind sending one of our new goalies to AZ. I know that might not be a popular opinion, but we have Hank for a while, Talbot right behind him, and then 2 youngins? Why not use one of them as trade bait? Pair it with one of Lindburg, Kristo, Allen, Bourque, McIlrath (although I'd still like to keep him around for a shot at the 6th or 7th dman spot next year). Save our picks, which is unlikely, but at the very least trade a 5th for a 6th or a 4th for a 5th. This would allow us to keep our high prospects, sell a mid-high prospect we don't really want to give up, and sell one we don't mind (whom is close to NHL ready). Seems like a win-win situation

IMO, Talbot is not here for long. Kid is ready for prime time, or at least ready for the opportunity to see if he can handle 50+ games. Once we have another kid ready, we should trade Talbot for a nice juicy return. Anyone know his Agency status after this contract? Is he restricted?

Talbot would have been a UFA this offseason if he didn't sign that 1 year extention. I am 99% sure Talbot will hit the UFA market next offseason looking for a starting job. He would be dumb not to.

Young goalies don't carry as much value, they take longer to develop

Right. But they have Mike Smith out there, who has shown he's a staple to that team. But he's almost through his prime and they'll need someone to fill in. Does anyone know their depth at the G position?

It's not very good, Brendan Burke is the hopeful in the organization, he was beaten out by Halverson as the Under 20 backup

Only way I would give anyone both of our 2nd rounders would be if they took Glass back in the deal

Yea some other people have mentioned his name before too. If Toronto eats some salary it could work but idk if they would. I guess looking 3 years down the line, would you rather have bozak or Hayes as the 3C? If your answer is Hayes, you go for just a rental.

One thing I don't get, if the Rangers wanted that Sorterelli guy so bad in free agency, why did they jump all in on Glass?

I'm calling it now. Tambellini is the dark horse trade chip. We drafted him in the same round we drafted Duclair and Buchnevich and actually drafted him before either of those 2. He's playing well in the CHL. He's the guy.

Dudes got 52 pts in 45 Games. Maybe we should hold on to him for ourselves

Not a bad idea

But if we can swing Vermette for him and a pick I think we do it. Assuming Arizona doesn't want Lindberg, McIlrath, Kristo, etc.

On Santorelli, last year the Penguins acquired Marcel Goc for a 3rd round pick and a 5th round pick, once of which is in this year's draft.

I think that is the type of compensation that Toronto should expect to receive for Santorelli. He's a good player, but he's a rental, and he a third liner. I don't see many teams that are going to be willing to pay much more than that.

Dreger was actually mentioning that the Rangers are on Santorelli pretty hard right now on NHL network last night, so I think that is probably the most likely trade target at this point. Although last year, there were all kinds of flirtations between the Leafs and Rangers on Del Zotto and nothing happened between the teams, so who knows if the GMs can get a deal done.

It's why I don't get people saying the Rangers lost on the MSL trade because of the first round picks they gave up. Clearly they don't follow the Rangers success in the draft haha

in the Nash trade, the Blue Jackets got the Rangers 1st, the Rangers got the BJ's 3rd.

BJ's took Kerby Rychel
Rangers took Pavel Buchnevich

I think you are onto something

Picks from 20-30 in the first round are somewhat of a crapshoot anyway. If you look at the entry drafts from 2005-2009 (I am excluding 2010 onwards because it may be two early to tell), the hit rates on draft picks between 20-30 isn't really that good.

In 2005, you had Rask, Oshie and Niskanen drafted in that range.
In 2006, you had Giroux and Foligno.
In 2007, Pacioretty and Perron.
In 2008, Eberle, Ennis and Carlson.
In 2009, really nobody.

Obviously, this is just a small sample size, as I really don't feel like going back 20 years, but if you look at those five years, the players drafted in that range that turned out to be very good NHLers is actually pretty low.

Edit: Going back another four years, get some better players in the mix, but still shows its a crapshoot.

In 2004, Zajac, Meszaros, Schneider and Green.
In 2003, Burns, Kesler, Richards, Perry (great year for the picks 20-30).
In 2002, Steen and Cam Ward.
In 2001, nobody of note.

You guys know who a good 3-4 center is with decent size, solid defensively, 9 goals this season, strong on faceoffs, and not much more expensive than Tanner Glass?

I'm sticking with my answer: Glass is in posession of incriminating pics of Sather or AV
