Is it true that Lundqvist turned down an invite to the allstar game?
- Cptmjl

He kind of dropped hints in post game interviews that he would've preferred the rest.

Brooks says that the NHL chose to go in another direction once Hank declared time off would be better for him and Portzline reported that some stars asked the league for a break.

Between going to the gold medal game in the Olympics and SCF he's played a lot of hockey the past year so this break is good for him.

How is that fair in any way? Shouldn't he be subject to the rule where he's not allowed to play in the next reg season game?

I mean, they didn't have to grant him his preference. I'm not so sure how fair that is, but ultimately it's the leagues decision.

I can care less whether he plays on Tuesday or not that's not the angle(not saying you said that but I figured I'd beat someone else to the punch) I'm taking with this post but it seems pretty ass backward if he was asked and he declared he wasn't going no matter what so the NHL sent Halak. I'd think every one of these guys wants a break.

Yep. Crosby won't be playing in Winnipeg when the break is over.

I think it just goes to show how stupid and a waste of time this game is. I'm with you, as a hockey fan first and formost it is ass backwards. But hey, as a Ranger fan, I can't complain.

I don't think the NHL ever officially invited him. He basically said I'd rather not go and the NHL respected his wish. They could've invited him and he probably would've gone.

if Lundqvist was named to the game then dropped out then he wouldn't be able to play next tuesday

the whole thing is silly to me. But it actually sounds like Crosby needs a week to heal anyway and wouldn't be ready regardless

I hate the all-star game. I hate that halak and tavares are in it.

There just doesn't seem to be much interest for All-Star games, in any sport, anymore. Personally, I would prefer that hockey play a World Cup once every two years in August/September, and just bag the All-Star game.

They aren't going to make the best looking guy in the NHL have to sit a game.
