Anisimovs name keeps coming up.. weve always been decent trade partners. How would we feel about arty coming back and what would we have to give up. I wouldnt mind a mid round pick and am ok prospect going the other way, if it costs a roster player i think the only option is hagelin |

Why though? He's plateaued |

Solid depth pker. Good locker room guy. AV trusts him in all situations. There's no need to kick him out the door imo. |

I don't think he's plateaued at all, he's been with Hayes and they have zero chemistry, he was a big time playoff performer last spring and that helps this team more than bringing Artie back, everywhere I look this fan base is dying for a trade like we have lost 16 of 19, I would forget about egos and put Moore and Hags together then have Miller play LW with Hayes |

I agree with all that, but so is anisimov and we are on the market for a center. All im saying is i would be more ok giving him away to shore up the center than any of the younger guys |

I think you're right. Here's the thing that keeps crossing my mind though. Personally I think the face offs the past 3 games have been fool's gold. In the playoffs everything tightens up so much. A lot of our game comes off of possession and if the only way we can get it is off of face offs I think we may actually need a center to solidify that. I feel like nobody is realizing that last week's games against the Isles and Bruins are more like what the playoffs will be like. Since that's the case therr has to be in upgrade at center to be able to play our game. |

we did not have Stepan in the Bruins and Islander games though. Not a real barometer of our team without him. |

I think people just need to realize what Hags is. He is an excellent third line player, who kills penalties, creates energy, forechecks, and can pitch in 15-20 goals a year. That is what he is. He is never going to score 30, but he is the type of player whose value will show more during the second season.
I agree with you, he has no chemistry with Hayes, and while the top two lines are playing real well, AV challenge during the second half will be to find the right combinations in the bottom 6.

im not talking about his point production im talking about his overall play. His speed isnt an asset when he cant win battles in the corners. His board play is atrocious. Hes jumpy with the puck, and cant shoot. I think we learned last year how important the center position is, and if were looking for a center, and absolutely feel the need to make a move, hes the only one im comfortable seeing go the other way. Aside from glass which obviously wont get much of a return

Agreed but the overwhelming majority of goals scored by the isles and bruins were by 3rd and 4th liners |

Neither would I. The Flames are in playoff position right now, however, so don't know how willing they would be to move him.

If we can get arty back for hags, I'm open to it. But I don't think it's going to happen.
I disagree with your assessment of hagelins board play and that he can't win battles in the corner. I think he's one of our best forecheckers and that's a result of his good boardplay, his ability to win battles, his tenacity on the puck, and his speed.
The thing is that you could probably lock Hagelin up long term for a decent salary and then that's it....you have a solid depth guy locked up long term. Its one less person we have to deal with replacing with an unknown or an inexperienced rookie. Hed be cheaper to keep around than Zucc or MSL which means you have more money for other depth players too rather than being too top heavy. With the bottom 6, the quality of player you can get based on a 500k difference in salary can be pretty substantial. |

His numbers in Hartford our pedestrian at best, so I don't think he is a real good option in the short term.

Not really my boy.
I've mentioned him as a potential rental on a couple of occasions, but I'm not even sure of the fit. |

I have not heard that. I read yesterday somewhere that some players asked the league not to be considered for the game, but not sure whether Lundqvist was one of them or whether that report is even correct. |

Eklund just said he rejected the offer when I asked him why he included his name on the list of players who rejected their invite. Figured I'd ask here considering the source. |
