right...so rather than review the video, let's wonder what kind of hypothetical situations we can create, none of them involving any pens going after boychuk at all because he went to their bench and apologized for it, but I'm sure he did it on purpose.

This is an out of office reply:

Thank you for your comment.

Sorry but the Aussiepenguin is unable to reply at the moment but he will do so on his return to the office later this afternoon - hopefully after a good Pens win.

Go Pens.

He'll do that if he feels like his roster spot is in jeopardy. Hack right into some poor unsuspecting guy from Finland.

I've got to get better at photoshop.

I also want to implement themes from the game 'Dark Souls' into NHL gifs. It won't end there.

I think Harrington will be a good NHL player in a few years. It took Orpik a lot of time before he was a good #2.

The Spaling for Bergenheim thing, I don't know where that gets anyone.

I could only take so much NHL safety talk as its just too obvious and pisses me off.

Not doubting Harrington. He's a poor skater right now, and I think eventually hes a safe number 5 and at best a 3. To win a championship, I want a big badass in our bottom 6. We dont need him to become a dominant top 6 powerforward, just reliable bottom 6 player in the PF mold. I would trade Harrington for that.

Spaling for Bergenheim. I just like Bergenheim and I think hes better than Spaling. Since hes a UFA (I think, wheres capgeek?) panthers get the younger, more versatile guy for the longer term. Plus we'd need to move cap space so that would be a good guy to move imo.

I think we're kind of proving out the reasoning for the NHL's unwillingness to address these types of games by posting well over 500 entries to a frikin blog.

This kinda stuff stirs emotions, interest, etc.. Exactly the reason why the NHL allows this crap to continue.

Lets face it, many of the hardcore fans expect this kind of activity in their NHL game. Cant wussify the NHL right?

We're all kind of being hypocrites by talking about it.

- 87_71_11_29

exactly if no one ever fought in the NHL there wouldn't be rivalries. maybe bs rivalries like stiller baltimore, those guys go hug in the middle of the field after the game. do we really want that in our sport?

Last time I looked - it's a Pens blog. We can discuss things like that & grumble all we want because it's our blog. Now if I were to go on the Islanders blog & start then you would have good reason to tell me where to go.

No matter how you try & excuse it the video tells the story. It would be like a wild fan coming on here & saying - but he wasn't looking at him when his elbow smashed into his face & but he said sorry to Sid for Downie. Get the drift big guy. Dirty play that is ok with you fine - go back to your own blog.

There would certainly be rivalries. Fighting is a bush league variant on what otherwise is the best sport in the world. If only the hockey part of hockey would be promoted and allowed to flourish.

I was thinking more of placing MotF wearing invaders with a shotel behind Mike Yeo on the bench, that kind of thing.

Or a Havel monster in the goal for Nashvile.

I don’t mind the fighting if it’s not staged, but instead of having players police themselves we’ve moved to staged fights between guys who play less than 5 minutes a night and dirty hits intending to cause injury to players who the NHL needs on the ice.

It’s a real shame – when the Isles play the Pens I want to see the Pens at full strength, it’s a better game to watch win or lose. Same goes with the flyers, that game with Mason in net was amazing to watch, just not as much fun when the key player or players for the opponent are out due to injury.

Enough of this discussion though, I think we’ve rehashed it plenty. May try and catch your game against the Hawks tonight, hopefully Letang is okay to play.

Can I say the Flyers have never valued fighting over skill? No, I can't. But just because something has happened in the past has nothing to do with things moving forward in the present/future. Can you also acknowledge that the Penguins have, in the past, employed some goons/dirty players (Loney, Ulfie, Kasparitis) and have, at times in the very recent past, had players whose actions fell into that category?

The fact is that ALL TEAMS have had players like that. The skillful Red Wings had guys like Kocur, Probert, and McCarty. The thing is that Flyers fans no longer want the "Broad Street Bullies" label because it quite frankly is no longer true, so yes, we get a bit upset, much like when Flyers fans call Crosby Sidney Crysby or bring up how Mark Recchi called him a baby, etc.

- jmatchett383

I will grudgingly acknowledge.

Loney, Ulf were 30 years ago and I truly believe pens have always had those guys to protect the stars. Mario...... Ugh. Nevermind.

Let me ask you tho. Do you believe the flyers will waive rinaldo? My guess is no. And the mind set is exactly the same. We will need "that guy" for next time we meet. If the fan base is calling for his head he should be gone... If that happens I will buy... Wait... I will put an iron city in the mail with your address on it.

I kinda hope they rest him. They would likely stand a better chance of keeping the puck out of their net. I want to see the PP run by Malkin, not Letang, and 2 players in the slot.

Remember, the Pens called up guys like Ryan Craig (2011's Bobby Farnham) for the Islanders line brawl game. Fringe players who show up to fight and then disappear.

Yeah bs rivalries where they hug afterwards. Hockey isn't changing until Canada wants it to change. Canada is never going to want it to change, simple as that. Do I like seeing Rinaldo hurt Letang like that? No. Would I like seeing Downie hurt Giroux with a clean check, then ignite a brawl? Yes. Without fighting in a rivalry you have a little league baseball game like all the other lame pro sports. I'm starting to think I'd rather see guys like Godard back in the league over guys like Rinaldo.

I love seeing a good clean hit, but I don't enjoy watching anyone get hurt, unless they're a complete douchenozzle like kaleta or downie. But even then I would rather see a clean hit, and both guys get back in the play. Injuries suck.

Last night was a joke. Were is the push back this team has constantly lacked yr after yr. I've liked sutter but last night made me realize that when the games get tough this guy disappears. Spalding... thought he was a try hard? It was honestly pathetic n soft as pop tarts. Go out n get gritty and i dont mean try to out hit the Boston's of the show. But show up push back when it gets tough and dont take poop. And dont take no for an answer win the puck battles. Until then its early exits #BRING.BACK.TALBOT

Actually I lied. If we were playing the Islanders in a series and Downie chopped JT's head off and ended his series I would love it. Basically as long as its Pens players hurting people I like it, I don't like it when Pens players get hurt though. Had to come clean.

I thought the physical pushback was good... They pushed back, but didn't go bananas or take themselves out of power plays or whatever. There was more composure than Pens teams of the past.

Problem is that when teams take shots at you and give you power plays, you need to convert. It should have been like 3-1 after the first period last night.

I'm indifferent to Sutter in general, but he was bad last night. Arcobello was more noticeable than Sutter.

I have been really impressed with Perron. His defensive game is better than I thought it would be. Very smart, and is good at anticipating plays.

Mike Johnston made some very poor personnel decisions last night...

Ya one way to push is push the puck in the net. I've always liked perron he wasn't taking crap from giroux. I just mean look at the fire voracek played with last nite. We didnt lose because of the refs but i think both fan bases weren't impressed. Mike Johnston was all over the map last night
i think he was drunk
