It just needs to be removed all together from the game.

We need more fights and irresponsible hits because fights win games.

Last night I saw a team with a little bit of pride on home ice, which was refreshing. The way things were going, I thought all of these guys had all but checked out. Lets hope they remember all of this next week when the league starts back up.

Although I believe Rinaldo threw a dirty hit, has anyone touched on Letang's responsibility in the play. After he dished the puck he just stood there, dead still with his back to open ice on the wall. Last year Kimmo made reference to 'part of being a smart hockey player is knowing who is on the ice at all times.' He didn't think any of the players on the ice were a threat to run, which is why he was so angry after he got hit late. There is no way Letang was unaware of who was on the ice. I'm sure the flyers knew when Letang was on the ice. I'm not say what Rinaldo did was right, but that was a check (albeit dirty) that could've been avoided if Letang chose to keep moving, or spin back.

As far as the Voracek fight I was pretty happy. A little 'pissed' about the 'tradeoff' and I'm sure the Pens were elated with Scuderi removing Voracek from the game for more than half a period. Having said that - hip check or no - Jake is a guy whose pace has tailed off a bit and I think his reaction was a culmination of frustration, embarrassment, and passion. He saw the opportunity to try to do something and he went for it. Good on him. This is not his forte but when players more 'physically abrasive' than him see that happen, they really need to look at themselves in the mirror and start playing the way they need to play to be successful so guys like Jake and focus on putting up points!

I was happy for the win and happy for the fans who turned out the the barn to watch.

Oh, I thought we were looking at a player's entire career as opposed to half of the current season.

Silly me.

Yes, based solely on this season, Steve Downie is playing better than Matt Read, and Calvin Pickard is the best goalie in the league.

Well lets hope the second half doesn't resemble the first half....that I can agree with.

So, Letang is responsible for getting smashed into the glass because he didn't move? He should have known that Rinaldo was going to hit him late and from behind?

I'm just trying to figure out how Downie's a better player than Read (if we're talking about career averages) simply because he hits and takes bad penalties.

That was well done.

BTW: That was the first time I saw the full Schenn - Downie fight. Man, did Downie get his ass kicked. After all he battled with concussions from last year, maybe that wasn't the best decision in the world.

I never liked Downie at all. Actually, I did, and then I saw him play. I was never very impressed with him. He's proven to have some mediocre skill to compliment guys like Stamkos and Crosby, but when he's left to create his own offense, I am none too impressed.

No, no...the Flyers are the dirty goons, the Pens are a bunch baby-loving, church-going saints. Just ask Mario.

J'aims Knee'l is still, to this day, the biggest piece of poop in the league. I hate him. I hate him with the passion of a thousand suns

I mean violence, period, needs to be removed. You won't find that comment from everyone or even many hockey fans.

And the whole "The Flyers made them do it" thing is just tiresome.

They need to own their own poop.

Sean Couturier made James Neal throw a flying elbow at him. It was his fault, shutting down Malkin and all. What a goon.

They can't put Powe in there. He doesn't have a contract but there are other players they could have recalled and given that shot while Read got treatment and rest.
- mayorofangrytown

i keep forgetting about powe's contract but this thing with read is like going down the road on a flat tire with spare tire in the trunk. change it and minimize the friggin damage.

I'd put Akeson on that line for a game or two.

That's not me beating the Akeson drum, I just think he could play as well as Read is at the current moment. Read's best attributes aside from his offensive game are his speed and defensive play, and they've been MIA this year.

Get ready for the Matt Read for Dan Carcillo trade, with the tag line, "He's gonna be a fan favorite. He's a natural Flyer."

I'm partial to the scene with Omar on the witness stand.

Also, the time Omar robbed Marlo at the poker game: "I think you have me confused for a man that repeats himself".

I just re-watched it recently, so yeah....I could go on and on.

- johndewar

One of my fave shows of all time

So, Letang is responsible for getting smashed into the glass because he didn't move? He should have known that Rinaldo was going to hit him late and from behind?
- jmatchett383

I don't think Letang is responsible for getting smashed from behind, and I know there its no way in heck that he could have possibly known Rinaldo was going to hit him from behind. Rinaldo should be suspended. Period.

However there were players in the flyers line up that NEVER would have hit Letang like that. And there are also players in the flyers lineup that Letang, Farnham and Downie may have hit like that. If a flyers player got smoked from behind like that, I'd be upset 'cuz I'm a fan.

At the same time, those guys need to know who they can relax a little with and who tends to play outside the rules. Its not right...it just....is

Rinaldo and Downie are both going to finish their checks. Some will be clean hockey plays, some will be travesties.

All I'm saying is if those types of players are on the ice, you have to trust only in yourself and your actions. Putting faith in players like Rinaldo to play within the rules at all times, is a mistake.

What's that story about the snake that crosses the dessert with a rabbit and promises not to bite the rabbit. The rabbit believes the snake and eventually gets bit and the snake says "what do you expect? I'm a snake."

Same thing.
