Don't sign Mueller, Tarnasky and Glass.
Problem solved.
None of these players are significant factors with the team. A guy like Perrault is a perfect third line center type. I am glad they got Hayes but Hayes has proven to be overwhelmed in the face off circles. If he can be moved to wing, with the team having a credible face off center in his place, the team would look so strong. - MidnightMarauder
It sucks but the only way Hayes will improve in the dot is by continuing to be put out there. He'll fail a lot but eventually he'll improve. Get a face off specialist rental for the playoffs because we can't afford losing face offs for the sake of learning then but until the playoffs and next regular season, keep putting the kid out there. |

Well, not really. Because Glass is the only one that counts against the NHL cap, so the Rangers would have had to done some maneuvering to get Perrault's $3 million under, which may not have been realistic.

McClement is nothing more than a fourth line checking center. I think the Rangers want to acquire a good face off man that can produce offensively, somewhat. - MidnightMarauder
yeah, I agree. A faceoff specialist that doesn't provide much else, we had one of those a couple of years ago in Jeff Halpern.
A guy who wins faceoffs doesn't do much for you when you don't want him on the ice after you win it. In big situations, we are still going to want Stepan or Brassard out there anyway |

I've been saying this for days. The last thing I want is a guy that can win faceoffs, but can't play much after he wins one.
Also, does Stafford play more center or wing? It's not a name that I here much, but a guy that I think could be a good add as a cheap rental, if Buffalo would retain a small portion of his salary for the remainder of the year. Always plays good against the Rangers, but haven't watched enough of Buffalo lately to say whether he would be a good fit.

Gotta think in part Step was just trying to throw it on net. Tho with his hockey IQ I'm sure he knew Hags was crashing the net including his passing ability I really hope they interview Step after the game. Really was an amazing perfectly placed pass. - MeanestOfTimes

Fair enough, but isn't it ridiculous that Santorelli is a trade target when he could have been acquired via free agency, over the summer?
Water under the bridge I suppose but this Glass signing turned out to be a real waste. |

While this is true, Dominic Moore should not be a third line center when you are shortening your bench, like last night.
Really like Hayes but he continues to be an atrocity on the dots and when Vigneault shortens his bench, the kid will not be in that rotation when in a tight game. |

meh - DDM-Coga
He's got size, can play center or wing, has offensive upside, is a pending ufa and is over 50% at faceoffs normally. He fits the bill. |

While we've all been pooping down on Hayes for his face-off ability, no one realized that he had 80% at the dot last night. |

In all of his 7:34 of ice time last night? Good though, glad he was able to win a few. There have been games he literally won less than 20% of his draws.
Face off wins, like life, evens out in the end.

Hey, wtf is all this pooping on Hayes. Dude scored the 1st goal last night and has been a gem considering we had no (frank)ing clue what the centers were going to look like after Stepan and Brassard. |
