If its going to be a full rebuild, you pick up replacement level D-men. I think someone (MJL maybe?) pointed out that Bryan Allen was waived the other day. This is what you are going to have to settle for until the kids are ready.

I think I'd keep Streit. I am OK with trading any of the rest of them for full value.
Like Coburn for a first.

I understand your words, but man, I just think it's bad form to move guys who are playing to their contract. Streit has been damn good as a Flyer and he just isn't part of the problem
- AllInForFlyers

I gotta say, Streit has had a lot more left in the tank than it looked like. Classy player.

I already said as he was going off the ice Manning would meet the team in Philly.........Just calling it early

Good call. And who else maybe if Colaiacovo can't go?

Streit, Coburn, even guys like Grossmann and Schultz will have some trade value.

Streit and Coburn hopefully a lot of value if they go that route.

Problem is it turns into a full EDM rebuild because who are you going to replace them with? Especially Streit.

- Marc D

I think players like Streit, Coburn and Grossmann are more likely to be moved in the off season then at the TDL, if at all.

Our PK isn't likely to get a lot better, but Johnson has allowed over 1/3 of those goals in just 11 games.
- Isles_since_6

Hey, I'm not knocking your boys -- 31 wins by the All-Star Break is some serious poop

But MJL's right, too -- I looked up those numbers myself, and that PK and ES defense might get you sent home early if you don't watch out, especially that PK

Seen a lot of teams get strafed out of the playoffs with PKs like those

Before today's game, the Flyers had given up 62 goals against since December 1. MacDonald was only on the ice for 12 of those goals against, and he was at fault for less then half of those 12 goals scored against. he's been defending well, moving the puck well. The only complaint I have, is I want him to be more aggressive offensively and use his skating to move up on the play, and fill holes the way Del Zotto has been doing lately.
- MJL

Not sure of your stats....but what I see is a shakey d man who has confidence issues and has been made a healthy scratch not for his stellar play that you speak of.

The problem with keeping Streit is that you don't want to be still holding that contract when he is no longer living up to it. If we're going to have a full rebuild that day will almost certainly come before we are contenders again.

curious why you think that, is it because the return is better?

I have a hard time seeing them trade Streit unless it is in 2016.
Coburn I could see going to a contender at the TDL if the return is really good. Otherwise 2016 for him too if they aren't going to re sign him.
Grossmann, not sure. If the most they could get is a late rounder like a 5th or something, then why do it?

the pk is a huge problem. We're all shredding capuano for it as it's the same one as last year with a different assistant coach in charge of it. It's his system that sucks. The numbers at ES are tough to judge as Johnson's been at fault for a lot of them, but Halak's also had some adventures handling the puck against the flow of the play.

That said, honestly, I'm not sure they're a cup contender and I don't know if we win a round, but the team is on it's way and has so many young players they'll have a number of years to figure it out.

I watched their recent game against the NYRs.
They looked like they could win in low scoring games too.

I honestly think that the team, as young overall as it is, gets sloppy in games where they aren't playing a rival.

The Flyers need picks. They had a great late round draft last year. Lindblom and Fazleev are really making some noise. A guy like Grossman must be traded at the deadline, he is easily replaceable this summer.
Streit I admit is tricky. We would have to hands down win the deal. The prospect of our defense without Streit and what they'd look like is unfathomable.

Maybe with Manning and Lauridsen in the lineup, Luke Schenn gets bumped up from the third pairing.

This franchise is turning into a farce.

I see a defenseman that is strong in coverage, and is calm under pressure with the puck. He handles the puck a lot and only has 9 giveaways charged to him this seasons. Berube scratched him one game earlier in the season because he wanted him to be more aggressive like I talked about offensively. The other game he was scratched, wasn't about performance.
