A hell of a lot happens and can happen in hockey in one year.

Absolutely -- gonna be tricky, they could use a break, but there are ways to skin this cat for at least incremental improvements

I know the defense won't be ready, but the forward corps has to get fixed by next season, doesn't it? And the PK?

They have to do something for next season about that PK, get a straight-up defensive forward in here

No question. Look at the little things the Flyers made mistakes on today that led to goals. Bad angle taken by a defenseman for goal 1. 2 failed attempts at a clear along the wall leading to a goal. Getting a shot blocked at the point leading to a breakaway goal. If all 4 PK players are going to one side of the ice, better come up with the puck, because at least one of the opposition is behind you around the net. The puzzling part is that this team has made these kinds of mistakes all season long. Just shoring up that crap, would make them a much better team. Goaltending also sucked today. If Mason was in, they probably would've still lost, but it would've been closer.

I'm more optimistic than OB, because my TV and internet work perfectly, so I think that next year we see a bubble team and after that strides towards being a better team.

this one especially just happens over and over and over

you can just tell a goal against is going to happen when they repeatedly can't get the puck out

A lot of them happen over and over, though. That's the issue, it's not like they're just having a recent rough patch

It's all fixed now........I can see it going either way. I won't be shocked if it took another year to put them on the right path.

If the PK wasn't absolutely ridiculous now, they probably shave 20 goals!!!!! off their goals against and are at .500, maybe a game above, right now

They should be a bubble team right now. Pisses me off that they are where they are right now, because that just can't happen, the PK going in the toilet like that

The trouble is, it did, and that is why they're not a bubble team. They're dead.

but the real question is, do you still think amac is worth his contract and a legit top four defenseman?

No doubt. Done like dinner this season. Need to address some stuff for next season to change this trajectory -- Hextall has to have a feel for what we are all seeing

This team is in such a rut with that it's ridiculous. You can just see the frustration in Berube behind the bench. I'm sure they're practicing and drilling on it all to try and fix it, but the number of repeatable, fixable mistakes is astounding.

Absolutely. Solid defenseman. Slightly overpaid, but that's the game you have to play in free agency.

Hexy says he has a plan. He expected better this season. I did too, not playoff, but better. We'll see what he does. So far he's stuck with the plan he laid out in the summer

I'm personally glad that Hextall hasn't made any panic moves to try and right the ship now. Do what you can at the deadline, and make some moves in the Summer if possible.

I hope you're enjoying the Isles season. Dynamic skating team offensively, but they better shore up defensively.

I don't want him to panic, no one does. I do want him to be firm and decisive on a few things about roster fit, and if it means buyout, which I think it does, do it and don't look back

The deadline and around the draft into the off season is going to be interesting for sure.

I wouldn't use today's game as an example. If you look at how they shut out the rangers, and games prior to that, they've actually played quite well defensively. The pk is an issue, as has been Johnson in net.

Halak's stats are pretty solid.

I would expect one or two moves as the deadline approaches. They probably won't be blockbusters, but they really don't need to be. If each deal Hexy makes leaves the Flyers in a slightly better spot than they were before, that will be fine.

Good luck preaching patience to a fanbase that hasnt seen the Flyers hoist the Cup in 40 years, but thats the reality of the situation. This is going to take patience.

I will however, continue to make snarky, sarcastic, and or downright mean comments as the mood suits me.

That's interesting. Don't have the exact numbers, so don't know. There is also a new emergency rule that can come into play if you have a bunch of injuries. Not sure about the exact details of that though.

Sanheim emergency recall imminent.
