if we had hornqvist and comeau back, and assuming no one on our team gets hit by a bus or has the mumps, it would be a really fun playoff series.
- SuperHenderson13

For sure. My number one fear as a Rangers fan is Nash disappearing. This year he's got that extra bit of effort and the pucks are going in for him but that's still my number one concern.

I see a Penguins/Rangers first round matchup the way I saw the Penguins/Flyers one a few years ago. It would be a really fun series, but you'd better really enjoy it, because whoever wins will be dead meat the next round.

And the Rangers probably can't expect to be mostly healthy all season long aside from a couple of weeks early in the season when they were missing defenseman.

I know. That's what I said in my next post.

Saw that after I posted. And you also made a good point about Nash falling back to earth. But it's not like they needed Nash scoring to beat the Penguins last year. Add Klein to that list.

And good Penguins fans would bemoan Hunwick getting playing time because he doesn't have the potential to score 20 goals a year from the blue line.

ive only been to a couple of penguin games at home in the last few years.

ill be honest, i travel a lot for business and if im in a city and the pens are playing or even if there is a good game going on, ill grab a ticket and go. ive had a lot more fun at some of these other arenas than my own.

my gf and i are perfectly content in the playoffs on having some friends over, relaxing, and just watching the game at our place. i think a lot of people feel that way now.

If I was HCMJ, my essential question would be, "how do I get Crosby and Malkin both hot as we enter the playoffs?"

That's the key. Hot streaks can't be manufactured, but he has to find ways to get them both going at the same time.

If he can get Crosby playing like he was playing the first 10 games of the year with Hornqvist, and Geno playing like he's played for the past month but with Kunitz and Comeau playing with him, the Penguins will be tough to beat no matter the opponent.

yea nash is due to disappear for a while

i would hate going against Henrik again. our team could play lights out, get 40-50 shots and lose 1-0.

it is such a vibe and momentum killer when stuff like that happens.

To be fair, I was only ever at one Penguins game. It was 2008 Game 3 vs. Ottawa at the old dump. It was grimy and dank as hell, and smelled of...well, I'm not sure what. I haven't been to the new place yet, but I know prices are sky high.

all joking aside, letang is on a short list for norris candidates this season. he has just been lights out for the penguins this year. our team wouldnt be anywhere without him and malkin this season.

To be fair, outside last year, Nash has always been a regular season monster. But 2 disappearing acts in a row for us in the playoffs definitely scares me.

Bull. Any team with Crosby and mediocre secondary scoring is a playoff team because Crosby.

mellon was awesome and horrible at the same time. corridors were small, bathrooms were small, lines were long... but that atmosphere was something to behold.

Fair enough. I still think this is weber or giordanos year though. Weber certainly deserves it as does gio. But webers been due to win it.

I saw my first Penguins game at the Civic Arena in 1980. I was 5. For the next 10 years, the Penguins were still a really cheap ticket. Only the Pittsburgh Spirit had cheaper tickets (aside from the Knothole Gang kids' tickets you could get for the Pirates at Hills). By 1993, it went from a cheap ticket, to an impossible to find ticket and having to go through scalpers.

trust me, crosby has been disappearing for a while. he has been good, but not crosby good. malkin looks like he is possessed or something and letang has literally been carrying the d corp this season... well he sucked this weekend, but who didnt.

Weber should have won it last year.

Maybe it's just nostalgia, but I loved the Civic Arena, and Three Rivers, and even Pitt Stadium.

Heinz Field is lake a library compared to Three Rivers.

I'm old enough to remember some games back at the Spectrum in Philly. Same kind of atmosphere. Very steep seats and the food was awful. Small, cramped, and full of obnoxious fans. Well, the last part hasn't changed. But yeah, the feel of the old buildings was much cooler than the glitzy well-lit corporate atmopshere nowadays.

Hags always kills it in the playoffs and Zucc does well too especially last year. Zuccs been a bit of a disappointment production wise this year though.
